Speaking in a meeting with Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Tehran Nikolina Konova on Monday, Selahvarzi said: “Iranian private sector is looking for ways to increase trade with other countries. Although there are many non-sanctioned areas for joint activity; we have to find new ways for financial exchanges.”

Referring to the drop in economic relations between Iran and other countries due to the imposition of sanctions in recent years, he said: “However, we believe that considering the old relationship between our countries, we can find ways to increase business exchanges in various fields, and this issue is one of the priorities of the ICCIMA in the new management term.”

Selahvarzi further stated that transportation is one of the important fields of cooperation between Iran and Bulgaria, adding: “Iran’s transportation is under the supervision of the ICCIMA, and due to membership in IRU (International Road Transport Union), we are the largest carnet customer in this organization. Therefore, we can have favorable cooperation in this field.”

While inviting the head of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce to travel to Iran at the top of a business delegation, the head of the Iran Chamber proposed holding a joint webinar with the presence of economic operators from both sides, so as to quickly provide a space for more familiarity with the investment opportunities of Iran and Bulgaria.

During the meeting, Konova also pointed out the political, economic, and cultural capacities of Iran and Bulgaria and noted that the lack of familiarity between Iranian and Bulgarian businessmen about the commercial potentials of the two countries is the most important obstacle in the way of the expansion of mutual trade.

Referring to the interest of Bulgarian businesses to cooperate with Iranian companies, she continued: “What is important in exchanging business delegations…[because] without this, only 20 percent of merchants can find their peers correctly. In this context, the role of the chambers of commerce of both sides will be very important.”

The forum dubbed “Regulations and policies for the development of economic, commercial and investment cooperation between Iran and Vietnam” is going to be attended by the 70-member Vietnamese delegation which is headed by the country’s parliament spokesman, the ICCIMA portal reported.

Introducing Vietnam’s economy and market, acquaintance with the country’s market needs and capacities, business and investment advantages, and trade and investment regulations are among the goals of holding this event.

Representatives of Iranian and Vietnamese private sector companies are scheduled to hold B2B meetings on the sidelines of the forum.

As reported, the Vietnamese delegation is comprised of government officials and representatives of private companies active in various sectors including agriculture and aquatics, drying technology, post-harvest processing for agricultural products, food and rice and all kinds of spices, cosmetics, and health products, cotton textiles, technology and industry, trade and services, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, aviation, gene and cell technology, shipping and maritime services and port operations, solid waste incinerator with heat recovery and steam generation, electric submersible pumps, ceramic tiles, and SPC floor panels, as well as urban development services.

Last week, the acting head of the ICCIMA international affairs department met with the head of the commercial office of the Vietnam Embassy in Tehran to discuss cooperation for holding the Iran-Vietnam business forum.

In the meeting which was held to discuss the preparations for the upcoming visit of Vietnam’s parliament speaker to Tehran, the Vietnamese side asked Niloufar Asadi to make the necessary arrangements for the holding of the mentioned forum.

Also, during a meeting between ICCIMA Head Hossein Selahvarzi and Vietnam’s Ambassador to Tehran Luong Quoc Huy at the place of ICCIMA in mid-July, the Vietnamese envoy mentioned the upcoming visit of the speaker of the Vietnamese parliament to Tehran, noting that a delegation comprised of 70 officials and businesspersons is going to accompany the Vietnamese parliament speaker on his visit to Iran.

In this meeting, Selahvarzi emphasized the readiness of the private sectors of Iran and Vietnam for joint investments and using barter trade capacities for the development of economic cooperation.

Selahvarzi made the remarks during a meeting in Tehran with two IRU representatives on Saturday.

He also said that Iran Chamber of Commerce stands ready to cooperate in holding international events to help promote transit.

Iraq has recently joined the TIR Convention which will remove a large part of challenges to border transit with the country, Selahvarzi said, adding that considering the high experience of the Iran Chamber of Commerce TIR department, it held training courses for the Iraqi side.

He noted that the Iran Chamber of Commerce has good relations with the country’s executive bodies and will make every effort to remove the red tape to help facilitate trade, investment and transit.

In the meantime, Behnam Faramarzian, the director of international transportation and TIR carnet department of Iran Chamber of Commerce, said that Iran has been the world’s top issuer of TIR carnets since 2021.

He said that Iran aims to expand its Ro-Ro system of transit and launch well-equipped terminals with the help of IRU and other international transportation organizations.

Kazam Asayesh, a senior manager with TIR and Transit of IRU, hailed the successful cooperation between IRU and the Iran Chamber of Commerce as a good example of cooperation.

The statistics suggest that Iran Chamber of Commerce has had a significant role in enhancement of transit through the Iranian routes, he said.

Asayesh added that Iran has set a good model for other countries in this regard. He added that if Iran minimizes its border problems, its transit routes with offering facilities and reducing cost of transit will become compatible, adding that it only needs to increase coordination between the related bodies on the country.

He reiterated that Iran should be more active in the issue of E-TIR and it should not let lag behind other countries and in this regard Iran Custom Administration should be active and pursue the issue.

Gholam-Hossein Shafei who was leading a trade delegation to Republic of Tatarstan in Russia in meeting with the Head of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tatarstan announced readiness of opening its trade office in Russia.

In the meeting, Shafei pointed to the sincere relation of the private sectors of Iran and Russia and said that the priority of the ICCIMA is to launch its trade office in Russia and expressed hope the office would be launched by the yearend due to considerable demands.

Shafei was leading a trade delegation to attend the Kazan Forum 2023 and on the sidelines of the event met with the economic activists of Republic of Tatarstan and during the meeting highlighted the policies of the ICCIMA and the government in trade with neighboring states and said that boosting economic relation will lead to strong bonds between the nations.

He then pointed to the capacities of Tatarstan and capabilities of Iran for cooperation and said that the number of fields for bilateral cooperation is huge and in the current condition, it can create deep changes in direction of broadening economic ties in the shortest time.

He added that economic activists of both parties have never had such an opportunity, reiterating that this opportunity will not last long and both sides should take advantage of the existing capacities for strengthening bilateral trade.

He then pointed to the interests of economic activists of both countries for cooperation and this is because of political relation and will of Iran and Russia for broadening interactions and both sides should resolve infrastructural problems.

Shafei further said that signing of agreement for the North-South Corridor is an opening for broadening economic ties and it can resolve some part of problems of the private sectors for trade.

He reiterated that infrastructural problems are very serious and businessmen are very concerned about them and it may slow down the pace of bilateral trade.

Shafei noted that custom, port and transportation are three major problems for bilateral trade and they should be resolved for fast for broadening economic relations between Iran and Russia.

He then pointed to the recent talks of the Head of Chamber of Commerce of Russia who was present in the meeting and said that ICCIMA has approved the launch of 5 trade offices in some certain countries for boosting trade and the priority is to launch the office in Russia first.

President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that Russia plans to open a representative office of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture.

“We are actively working on opening a representative office of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Russia,” Sergey Katyrin said.

He also welcomed the proposals of Mr. Shafei and said that recent exchange of delegations between Iran and Russia shows that there has been good cooperation between Iran and Russia for trade and both countries are doing some works which have been unprecedented.

He also welcomed all Iranian businessmen who are trying to work with Russia and Russia will provide good facilities for them.

According to reports, a trade delegation from Poland led by deputy head of Poland Chamber of Commerce is to visit Tehran and attend the forum on October 9 at the ICCIMA.

Economic activists from different sectors as well as the members of the ICCIMA are to attend in the forum.

The Polish delegation will include representatives of different fields like medicines and medical equipment, livestock, oil, gas and petrochemical, industrial and production machineries, auto parts, cosmetics and transportation.

As announced by the spokesman of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), the country’s non-oil export to Poland has recorded 114 percent growth in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20).

According to Rouhollah Latifi, more than 22,664 tons of non-oil goods, valued at $53.198 million, were exchanged between Iran and Poland last year, showing a 79 and 28 percent growth in terms of weight and value respectively as compared to the preceding year.
