TEHRAN (Iran News) – Mass construction companies of the private sector are going to sign deals with the government with the aim of building one million affordable houses within the framework of the National Housing Action Plan.

The companies will submit a proposed plan in this regard to Transport and Urban Development Ministry to be reviewed within a week, IRNA reported on Saturday.

Last week, Transport and Urban Development Minister Rostam Qasemi held a meeting with representatives of mass construction companies to discuss details of future cooperation. During the meeting, he announced the government’s support for the private sector investors who intend to enter the construction market.

Back in August, the deputy head of Mass Construction Association Iraj Rahbar said the country’s contractors are capable of constructing one million housing units a year if the necessary funding and land is provided.

Mentioning a plan for the construction of one million affordable housing units per year by the government, Rahbar said: “Allocating land and financing are two important factors for the successful implementation of any housing project, and if these two are provided, building one million housing units per year will be easily possible.”

Commenced in winter 2018, the National Housing Action Plan aims to construct 400,000 small and medium-size apartments (70-100 square meters in size) across the country and particularly in Tehran, where housing prices have risen most sharply.

Nearly half of the total number of the said houses will be constructed in Tehran’s suburban “new towns” such as Parand and Pardis, respectively located in the west and east of the city.

Back in March, former Transport Minister Mohammad Eslami had announced that 510,000 residential units will be provided for the applicants within the framework of the National Housing Action Plan during the current year.

In September 2019, the registration of the National Housing Action Plan was started from Kerman Province. The second round of registration began in ten other provinces in November that year.

Applicants in Sistan-Baluchestan, Qom, North Khorasan, and South Khorasan provinces registered first and those from Kordestan, Kohgiluyeh-Boyerahmad, and Golestan came in the second stage, while from Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari, Hamedan, and Yazd provinces came in the third stage.

According to a report released by the Turkish Statistics Center, Iranians bought 911 housing units in Turkey in August, the highest monthly figure for buying housing by Iranian citizens in Turkey.

Iranian citizens bought 4,600 housing units in turkey in the first eight months of this year, up 21 percent from the same period last year and about 47 percent compared to the same period in 2019, it said.

The purchase of Iranians’ housing in Turkey increased sharply since 2018 and the reimposition of the U.S. sanctions, especially the rapid drop in the value of the rial.

In the first eight months of 2017, Iranians bought only 424 housing units in Turkey, which means that the purchase of Iranians’ housing in Turkey has more than increased more than 10 times in the past four years.

Iranians also had the largest purchase of housing in Turkey among foreign citizens over the past two years, but as nuclear negotiations began and hopes of lifting sanctions increased, Iranians’ housing purchases subsided somewhat in a few months, and Iraqi citizens gained the first place among foreign citizens in buying properties in Turkey.

In August, Iranians again became the top buyout of housing in turkey among foreign citizens.

Setting a historical record of buying properties by Iranians in Turkey while statistics from the Central Bank of Iran show that housing purchases in Tehran have dropped nearly 40 percent over the past month compared to las August of 2020 and house prices have also grown by 34 percent.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Head of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (TCCIMA) Masoud Khansari has warned over the flight of capitals from the country for buying real estate in other countries and called for finding a solution.

Speaking in the meeting of board of representatives of the TCCIMA, Khansari said that according to the latest reports, Iranians bought 7,189 properties in Turkey in 2020 and some 1,600 more in the first quarter of 202.

He said the country should work on this woe why the capitals are flying from the country for buying houses and properties in other countries.

He added that Iranians rank first among foreign buyers of real estate in Turkey and Russians and Iraqis are trailing Iranians, respectively. He noted some Iranians have also purchased houses and properties in countries like Tajikistan and Georgia, reiterating that this is an ill which threatens the economy.

Khansari noted the ratio of investment to the amortization was negative in 2019 and it was one of the main reasons for the flight of capitals from the country.

He said the only remedy for the national economy is production and production needs real support and removal of hurdles, expressing hope that the recent actions of Majlis and the government would not be a show-off and election campaign slogan.

Khansari went on to say that government’s meddling in economy is the most important hurdle in way of production and as long as these interferences and engagements are not halted, there will be no growth in production.

He also criticized the government for launching several headquarters for the control of the prices, saying that while Iran is among the world top ten chicken producers, the government has set up a headquarter for organizing the chicken market in the country, noting that while production of chicken is in the control of the private sector, its pricing and import of raw materials are in the control of the government.

Khansari went on to say that sudden orders and regulations are hurdles in way of the production and if the country wants to materialize the slogan of the year, there needs a strong determination.

He noted that with protecting the production through removing hurdles, the country should safeguard the domestic capitals and prevent the flight of capitals.

He also noted that the private sector companied have signed agreements for import of 6m doses of COVID-19 vaccines for vaccinating the workers.

He added that some experienced companies have taken action to import the vaccines despite vaccines have been mostly pre-sold and the market is almost empty of vaccine.

Khansari went on to say that the goal behind this move is to help the workers especially in the production field and expressed hope the owners of the businesses would accept the cost of the vaccines and vaccinating their staff.

He said the chamber and some related bodies have forecast 39 percent inflation rate for the current year and in case the government faces budget deficit, the figure may soar.

“Some 1,550 residential units will also be given to families having two or more members with disabilities and women heads of family,” he added, IRNA reported on Thursday.

He also noted that out of 1,550 houses, 580 units will be provided to the families with physically challenged members, and the rest to the breadwinner women.

This year, the government has provided tremendous social support to the community by increasing the budget allocated to the individuals under coverage of the Relief Foundation and the Welfare Organization compared to previous years, he highlighted.

Mohseni-Bandpey went on to say that food packages will be offered to those in need under the organization coverage by the end of August.

Elsewhere in his remarks he noted that in case of medicine prices hike, the government will subsidize some 436 essential medicines.

In July, Mohseni-Bandpey said that all 11,000 Iranian families with two or more members with disabilities will be provided with houses by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2019).

He also added that it is planned to construct some 20,000 residential units for other people under the Welfare Organization’s coverage.

TEHRAN – The US House of Representatives passed a $700 billion defense policy bill on Tuesday, backing President Donald Trump’s call for a bigger, stronger military, but failing to decide how to fund the massive spending increase.

The Republican-controlled House voted 356-70 for the annual National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA, which authorizes the level of defense spending and sets policies controlling how the money is spent, Reuters reported.

But the legislation defies spending caps set in the 2011 Budget Control Act and there is no clear plan from Congress on how to provide the money for the Pentagon. The 2018 NDAA authorizes $634 billion in base defense spending, for such things as buying weapons and paying the troops, well above the $549 billion allowed under the previous legislation.

The NDAA also includes provisions such as an increase in active troop levels by more than 16,000, and states that climate change is a national security threat.

The defense policy bill will become law if it passes the Republican-controlled Senate and is signed into law by the president, as expected. But spending will nonetheless be cut automatically if Congress cannot come up with a deal to resolve the gap in funding.

Representative Adam Smith, the top Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, said Congress’ failure to address the issue makes life more difficult for military leaders because they cannot plan in advance.

“This defense bill is $72 billion over the budget caps, so if we don’t eliminate or raise the budget caps, that additional money will go away and leave us once again in the land of uncertainty for the Department of Defense,” he said.

Representative Mac Thornberry, the House Armed Service Committee’s Republican chairman, said Congress needed to pass an appropriations bill to allow for the $700 billion.

“Securing those appropriations must be Congress’ top priority before the year ends,” Thornberry said in a statement.

The NDAA also includes about $66 billion in special war funding, which is exempt from the so-called sequestration cap.

The measure passed by the House on Tuesday is a compromise reached by House and Senate negotiators between separate versions of the bill approved in the chambers earlier this year.

However, a budget fight is expected because Senate Democrats may not agree to big increases in funds for the military if spending caps on non-defense programs are not also eased. The Republican majority in the Senate is so small that most legislation cannot pass without some Democratic votes.

TEHRAN – Masoudieh Palace (Emarat-e Masoudieh) is one of the most beautiful palaces or historical houses from Qajar dynasty in old Tehran near Baharestan Square, comprised of a palace and surrounding houses.

It was built in 1879 for the prince Mass’oud Mirza (Zell-e Soltan) – the son of Nasseredin Shah and the governor of Isfahan – as his residence in the Capital. Spanning over an area of 5 hectares, the mansion was constructed in the middle of a garden.

Being close to the Baharestan Plaza and Iran Parliament, Masoudieh Mansion has been home to many events that changed the history of the country.

Masoudieh mansion was one of the main gathering centers during the Persian Constitutional Revolution.

Beside its political importance, the mansion has served the country culturally, since first steps of forming the national library of Iran and also national museum of Iran were taken there.

First independent, ministry of education of the country was also formed at the Masoudieh Mansion.

This palace narrates modern history of Iran to those who pay a visit during an Iran trip. Many ancient inscription and documents are kept at the site.

But perhaps one of the most impressive parts of this mansion is its beautiful cozy café in which you can spend few hours in one of the most historic and cultural monuments of Tehran while experiencing Qajar era environment and enjoy the taste of the Iranian traditional foods and drinks.

Naturally the architecture of the building café resembles the mansions and the interior is furnished with items of the same period.

The café is decorated with wooden tables and chairs and checkered tablecloths and small flowerpots with fresh flowers on the table.

The restaurant staff who are famous theater artists, host the guests in a very welcoming and hospitable manner.
