TEHRAN (Iran News) – Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the special aide to the speaker of the Iranian Parliament on international affairs, has praised the Palestinian resistance against the Israeli regime, saying the resistance has achieved a “tremendous victory” in the face of Israel.

In a tweet on Friday, the diplomat said Israel’s security has been destroyed and that al-Quds remains the eternal capital of Palestine.

“Palestinian Resistance & people made a tremendous victory. Palestine’s unity has been demonstrated in Gaza, al-Quds, West Bank, & occupied territories. So-called Israel’s security was shattered & fully destroyed. Quds remains Palestine’s perpetual capital,” Amir-Abdollahian said on Twitter.

The tweet came amid celebrations in Palestine and elsewhere in the world on the ceasefire that Israel unilaterally announced late on Thursday night after failing to defeat the Palestinian resistance.

Nearly two weeks ago, Israel began an air raid campaign against the Gaza Strip after the Palestinians there protested against Israel’s atrocities in the West Bank, where Israeli authorities imposed new bans and doubled down on their crackdown against the Palestinians.

The whole episode began when Israel moved ahead with its inhumane and racist decision to evict a number of Palestinian families from their ancestral homes in Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and replace them with extremist Jews, a move that caused an international outcry and eventually provoked Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to strike back at Israel.

During the war on Gaza, Israel targeted civilians and killed at least 60 children, something that fits well into Israel’s global reputation as the killer of children.

The international community, including Iran, called on Israel to stop its atrocities.

Palestinian resistance groups thanked Iran for standing by the Palestinian people. Abu Hamza, spokesman for al-Quds Brigades, thanked Iran and the Resistance countries, saying that these countries are partners of the Palestinian groups in the victory over the Zionist regime.

In a speech delivered on Friday, the spokesman said, “Quds is the basis of our war and the sword of resistance and the reason for our victory. The sound of rockets and gunpowder was cut off; but our long journey will not stop. We were able to rein in the enemy and the settlers. Today marks the end of another milestone in the history of resistance.”

“We respect the role of Iran and the axis of resistance in supporting [the Palestinian people] and tell them that you are our partners in this victory. We are always on the alert and our eyes are watching the enemy in all fields,” Abu Hamza said, according to Fars News.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Foreign Military Presence Source of Insecurity in Region. Special Aide to Majlis on International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a meeting with Ambassador of Norway to Tehran Sigvald Tomin Hauge said recent U.S. Administration bombardment in Abu Kamal in Syria and martyrdom of anti-terrorist fighters is a green light to the IS forces and the escalation of insecurity.

Amir-Abdollahian pointed to the significance of restoring security and sustainable stability in the region and felicitated on the occasion of Norway’s membership to the UNSC as well is to the IAEA board of governors, and noted that all countries and governments should strive in true sense for establishing peace and security in the region and the world.

He went on to say that Iran believes that peace and security in the region are very important and any presence of foreign forces in the region will be provocative and a source of insecurity. He said he believes the role of Norway in the UNSC is very important and undoubtedly all regional crises should be settled through diplomacy and not military.

Amir-Abdollahian also called the U.S. behavior in Iraq, Yemen, and Afghanistan, and some parts of the region and the world an unconstructive, interventionist, and unilateralist. He went on to say that the U.S. policy in assassinating the international commanders of a fight with terrorism Martyr Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis deteriorated the situation in the region and recent Biden’s decision on bombardment in Abu Kamal and martyrdom of anti-terrorist fighters is a green light to the IS forces and intensifier and intensifies the insecurity.

He also emphasized the role of parliaments and parliamentary friendship groups in strengthening the friendly and bilateral ties, adding that considering the formation of the Iran-Norway Parliamentary Friendship Group in Iran’s Majlis, he expects such a reciprocal action in Norwegian parliament for boosting parliamentary and friendly ties between the two countries.

He then announced the readiness of the specialized commissions of Majlis for restoring ties with their counterparts in Norway’s parliaments and emphasized holding virtual meetings.

In response to a question by the Norwegian Ambassador on the future of the JCPOA, Amir-Abdollahian said that the policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the JCPOA is very clear, it means, act against the act. He added that if the U.S. removes sanctions in action, Iran after verification and watching the real lift of the sanctions will take reciprocal action.

Then Tomin Hauge, for his part, said the parliamentary cooperation is very crucial in developing bilateral ties and said that the Embassy of Norway in Tehran will do its best for reinforcing the bilateral relations between parliaments of both states.

He also pointed to his country’s membership in the UNSC and said considering Iran’s important and constructive role in the region and the world, Norway’s approach in the UNSC is to cooperate with Iran for the restoration of peace and sustainable security in the region.

Touching upon recent developments in Afghanistan and Iraq, he said the Islamic Republic of Iran has very important capacities and then both sides reviewed the latest developments in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Netanyahu’s ‘thoughtless and intimidating’ remarks are part of the Americans and Israelis’ vicious plan dubbed ‘the Deal of the Century’, said Amir-Abdollahian on Saturday, vehemently condemning Israeli PM’s remark.

Calling the Israeli PM the ‘little Hitler’, he said that Netanyahu is seeking to ignite a war in the region with the support of the Trump administration and the money of some oil-rich countries and then, to shelter from damages of the war under US support.

“In case of this measure’s realization, which is a violation of international law, the Palestinian nation and the Resistance will teach a great lesson to Zionists for playing with fire,” added the Iranian Parliamentary Director General for International Affairs.

He also called on international bodies and all countries to take practical steps to stop the Israeli regime’s measures which threaten global peace and security.

“The Zionist regime Prime Minister and Zionists should abandon their dreams and know that the Palestinian and regional fighters cannot wait to teach an unforgettable and historic lesson to Zionists with all their power and experience from 33-day and Gaza wars. And Netanyahu is helping earlier destruction of Israel by his efforts to stay in power.”

Netanyahu has promised to go ahead with the annexation plan in case he emerges victorious in the forthcoming votes. “Today I announce my intention to apply with the formation of the next government Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and northern Dead Sea,” Netanyahu said in a speech broadcast live on Israeli TV channels on Tuesday evening.

The remarks were condemned by the international community. Ironically enough, Saudi Arabia that has been seeking to normalize ties with Israel also criticized Netanyahu for this “dangerous escalation against the Palestinian people” and called for an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres voiced concern over announced Israeli plans, saying that if realized, such a measure will be “a serious violation of international law.”

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi strongly condemned the remarks, saying, “Netanyahu is seeking to win votes for staying in power and proceeding with expansionism and aggression by making allegations against the Islamic Republic of Iran one day, and expressing his sinister intention to annex more parts of Palestine the other day.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran would support any collective action by Muslim countries to prevent the continuation of acts of aggression and expansionism of the regime that has usurped Palestine,” he also added.

Although 41 years have passed since the abduction of Imam Musa al-Sadr and two of his companions, he has a significant and shining presence in wisdom and conscience of Lebanese and regional people, wrote Amir-Abdollahian.

“Despite Gadhafi’s fall and great efforts to find the Imam, no strong evidence is presented confirming his martyrdom,” he added.

Imam Musa al-Sadr was a highly revered Shia cleric of Iranian descent, who founded the Lebanese Amal (Hope) Movement in 1974. He came to Lebanon in 1959 to work for the rights of Shia Muslims in the port city of Tyre, located about 80 kilometers (50 miles) south of Beirut.

The prominent Shia cleric was reportedly on August 31, 1978, during an official visit to the Libyan capital Tripoli. He was accompanied by Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoub and journalist Abbas Badreddine. Lebanon still holds former Libyan officials responsible for the disappearance of the trio.

Since Gaddafi was deposed and killed in 2011, Lebanon and Iran have repeatedly called on the Libyan government to launch an investigation into Sadr’s disappearance.

“The documents and evidence show that he is alive and imprisoned as there is no proof to the otherwise,” Houra al-Sadr, the daughter of Seyyed al-Sadr, said in February 2018 according to PressTV. “He is still alive and kept incarcerated. Nevertheless, he has not yet been found and reunited with us,” she added.

For nearly four decades, the Persian Gulf has not been calm and occasionally is the stage for Iran’s confrontation with the US and its regional allies because of America’s hostility toward the Islamic Republic of Iran. These tensions have sometimes led to direct military conflict.

Iran has been trying to challenge the US military power. The US also has hit Iran’s military and oil facilities, killing many Iranians, including hundreds of civilians in the past.

The Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Sea of Oman are a strategic route for supplying oil to world markets, and in this regards, oil tankers have been one of the main targets of military actions.

More than thirty years after the end of the Iran-Iraq war, several oil tankers have exploded again in the region in recent months. Tensions and maritime conflicts and attacks on oil facilities have re-emerged in the region by US and its regional allies destabilizing acts and the return of US sanctions against Iran.

The White House’s unlawful withdrawal from the Iran’s nuclear deal (JCPOA), designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist group, re-imposing sanctions on Iran and trying to drive Iran’s oil export to zero all are provocative and suspicious moves of the US that have fueled the regional tensions.

Recently to reduce tensions in the region, a number of countries have taken steps and traveled to Iran to mediate.

Trying to calm the region Iran has also tried to take steps by a series of new proposals to improve relations with Arab countries on the Persian Gulf.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif suggested on May 26 signing a non- aggression pact with Persian Gulf littoral states during his three-day trip to Iraq. The suggested plan proves Iran to be right since security in the region would be achieved via cooperation of all regional countries and a desirable and stable regional discipline is obtainable without interference of foreign countries. The plan can become operational step by step in case of building confidence among regional countries.

Some speculation show that Oman and Iraq are likely trying to ease tensions between Tehran and some Persian Gulf states. In this regard, Iran’s Ambassador to Kuwait also announced on July 30 that some countries have accepted to join Iran’s proposed non-aggression pact.

Alongside with acceptance of some countries to join Iran’s proposed non-aggression pact, it was announced that a joint Iran-UAE Coast Guard meeting had been held in Tehran after six years and some reports indicated that two UAE banks have announced their readiness to cooperate with Iran, Khorasan Newspaper reported.

Russia and Qatar welcomed the proposal in June, and it now appears that Kuwait has been added to its supporters. In this regards, Iran’s Ambassador to Kuwait Mohammad Irani in an interview with Al Rai, Kuwaiti newspaper said that some countries have accepted to join Iran’s proposed non-aggression pact.

He did not explicitly mention the names of the countries, but said in his remarks that the proposal was not specific to Kuwait and would include all countries in the region. He also mentioned that some countries have responded positively to this plan, and Iran is awaiting response from other countries.

Simultaneously, Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian also referred to the recent visit of Omani foreign minister to Tehran and said that Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah had positive and constructive ideas on the subject of Iranian-Arab talks and the reduction of seizures and tensions during his visit to Tehran.

Foreign policy reporter of Etemad Newspaper wrote in his tweet quoting an Arab source: “In response to Washington’s request for joining an international coalition to protect commercial ships in the region, Kuwait stated that the situation in the region was not like Saddam Hussein’s, former President of Iraq when Kuwait united with the US against another regional state and will not allow its territory to be used to threaten Iran. Kuwait had earlier rejected the US request for deployment of four B-52 bombers in Kuwait.”

In addition to Iranian Foreign Minister’s plan of ‘non-aggression pact’, Russia also outlined plan for ‘collective security in Persian Gulf’ and presented it to the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly on 30 July 2019. Russia’s concept of collective security in the Persian Gulf has been distributed as an official document approved by the United Nations.

“In the current conditions, energetic and effective action is needed at international and regional levels in the interests of improving and further stabilizing the situation in the Persian Gulf, overcoming the prolonged crisis stage and turning this sub-region to peace, good neighborly relations and sustainable development,” the document said.

“Practical work on launching the process of creating a security system in the Persian Gulf may be started by holding bilateral and multilateral consultations between interested parties, including countries both within the region and outside of it, UN Security Council, LAS [League of Arab States], OIC [Organization of Islamic Cooperation], PGCC [Persian Gulf Cooperation Council],” the document added.

In a letter to the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly, Russia said that it is “ready for cooperation with all interested parties to implement this and other constructive proposals”.

Russia’s plan and Iran’s proposal both seek to reduce tensions between the Persian Gulf states. There is only one difference between them that in the Russian plan, it also calls to establish security in the region from some countries outside the region. Russia has also emphasized in its plan that the region’s security system will be strengthened by its neighbors in the Persian Gulf only when foreign military presence in the region is reduced.

The regional non-aggression pact is expected to pave the way for neighboring countries to build trust and have constructive interaction.

Despite all pressures, diplomatic initiatives are being pursued by Iran and some regional and trans-regional countries to reduce tensions in the Middle East.

Tensions initially built up between US and Iran after the US President Trump withdrew Washington from the 2015 Nuclear Deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and imposed severe sanctions against Tehran. Despite US policy of maximum pressure on Iran Trump administration claims that they are ready for talks with Iran but Tehran says it doesn’t trust on the White House and will resist in face of all pressures and there will be no talks with a party which has already violated many international agreements.

Tensions between Iran and the United States reached a record high after a US spy drone violated Iran’s airspace last month and ignored Iran’s warnings before being targeted by IRGC’s air defense.
