TEHRAN (Iran News) – After a US presidential debate rife with outbursts and attacks, Hillary Clinton confirmed she wished she could have told President Donald Trump to “shut up” when the pair debated in 2016.

The former nominee’s confession came after feminist writer Jill Filipovic tweeted that former Vice President Joe Biden’s off-the-cuff remark of “Will you shut up, man?” was “the line of the night.”

Filipovic later added, “I so feel for Hillary right now, because I’m positive she wanted to say that and couldn’t”, the USA Today reported.

“You have no idea,” Clinton replied.

Clinton was the first female major-party nominee for president when she faced Trump four years ago. In her first debate versus Trump, he interrupted her 51 times, according to a county by Vox.

She, in turn, interrupted him just 17 times. And unlike Biden, she resisted the urge to tell him to “shut up.”

Prior to the debate, Clinton told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow that she would be watching the debate with “real interest, and a certain level of expectation.”

“Unlike four years ago, Donald Trump now has a record,” she explained. “Everyone has seen what he has done to our country, what he has failed to do.”

After lauding Biden for his “toughness” and “humanity,” Clinton said she was “looking forward to the debate.”

Clinton told Maddow that Trump has lost “his big advantage” of reality television stardom.

“I think his series is about to be cancelled,” she joked. “It’s just the same story over and over again: lying with impunity, attacking when you have nothing to say, unable to give an answer that is frankly coherent.”

For his part, Trump mentioned Clinton once during the debate, reprising the moniker “Crooked Hillary Clinton” and accusing Democrats of attempting a “coup.”

After the heated debate, Chasten Buttigieg took to twitter to express his sympathy for Clinton, too.

“Has anyone checked in on @HillaryClinton?” He wrote. “Girl I’m so sorry.”

“Thanks, I’m fine,” she replied. “But everyone better vote.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Former US secretary of state Hillary Clinton criticized the administration of President Donald Trump for abandoning the 2015 Iran nuclear deal aka JCPOA, saying it is in America’s interest to return to the multinational agreement.

During an Atlantic Council FrontPage event broadcast on Monday, Clinton gave her views on how the next US administration should move forward with several domestic and international issues, among them the Iran policy.

Hillary Clinton, who served as secretary of state under ex-president Barack Obama, said the Trump administration could have tried to fix what it viewed as problems with the deal instead of abruptly pulling the US out of the JCPOA in May 2018, Press TV wrote.

One consequence of Washington’s withdrawal from the Obama-era Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was that Iran and China strengthened their relations, she claimed.

The politician highlighted a 25-year partnership agreement that Iran and China are working to finalize and said, “I put that directly at the door of the Trump administration – that pulled the United States out of the Iran agreement that I began the negotiations for as secretary of state, and my successor John Kerry was able to bring to a very important conclusion.”

“I think it would be in the United States’ interest to rejoin the Iran agreement, just as it would be to rejoin the climate agreement,” which was similarly abandoned by Washington under Trump.

She, however, cast doubt on whether Iran would be “receptive to that,” saying, “I think they may have moved on.”

Biden, the Democratic nominee for president, has increasingly signaled that he wants to renegotiate the international agreement with Iran.

Earlier in May, Anthony Blinken, one of Biden’s top advisers, acknowledged that the United States would have to rejoin the original deal before asking for a new one.

After pulling out of the landmark Iran nuclear deal in May 2018, Trump has been running what he refers to as a “maximum pressure” campaign, which has been seeking, in vain, to pressure Iran into negotiating a new deal that addresses its ballistic missile program and regional influence.

The Trump administration has also been attempting to fully kill the agreement, recently through a fruitless resolution to secure an extension of a UN arms embargo on Iran.

Iran has repeatedly said it will not renegotiate the JCPOA, calling on the US to abandon its unilateral pressure policy and return to its commitments under the agreement.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Former US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton launched a scathing attack on presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders, her rival for the 2016 Democratic nomination, telling a documentary that “nobody likes him.”

The former US first lady, senator, and secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, also refused to say whether she would endorse Bernie Sanders if he becomes the Democratic Party’s nominee to run against Republican President Donald Trump in November’s US presidential election.

Her comments on Tuesday generated anger among Sanders’ supporters, who called on Clinton to support the candidate the party backs in their bid to remove Trump from the White House.

“He was in Congress for years. He had one senator support him,” Clinton says in a four-part documentary due to air in March.

“Nobody likes him, nobody wants to work with him, he got nothing done. He was a career politician,” Clinton, the spouse of former President Bill Clinton says in the documentary.

Sanders, a senator from Vermont, is among the leading candidates in the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

Sanders has been steadily climbing in popularity this year and is now tied with former Vice President Joe Biden for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination among registered voters, according to a Reuters/Ipsos national poll released this week.

The poll shows that Sanders’ standing does not appear to have been hurt by his recent confrontation with Senator Elizabeth Warren, another presidential hopeful, over his views of women and politics.

Sanders nearly defeated Clinton four years ago in an acrimonious, months-long battle for the party’s nomination. Clinton won that race but lost to Trump. She has criticized Sanders and his supporters for not sufficiently backing her in the presidential vote.

Interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter about the documentary, Clinton stopped short of saying she would support Sanders if he won the nomination this year.

“I’m not going to go there yet. We’re still in a very vigorous primary season,” she said.

But in a tweet on Tuesday night, Clinton backtracked on her position, saying she would endorse Sanders if he wins the Democratic nomination.

On Friday, Clinton, a former Democratic presidential nominee, suggested that Tulsi Gabbard is a “Russian asset,” and that she was being “groomed” by Moscow to act as a spoiler in the 2020 race, Presstv Reported.

“They’re also going to do third-party again. And I’m not making any predictions, but I think they’ve got their eye on somebody who is currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate. She’s the favorite of the Russians, they have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far…” Clinton told David Plouffe on “Campaign HQ”, a podcast run by the 2008 Obama campaign manager.

Currently, there are five Democratic women running for president, including Gabbard, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Minnesota Sen. Amy Kloubuchar, California Sen. Kamala Harria and author Marianne Williamson.

And even though Clinton did not mention Gabbard by name, the comment appeared to be aimed at the Hawaii Rep.

Buttigieg rebutted the claim, saying, “I don’t know what the basis is for that, but I consider her to be a competitor. I respect her service. I also have very different views than she does, especially on foreign policy, and I would prefer to have that argument in terms of policy which is what we do at debates and what we’re doing as we go forward.”

“I think statements like that ought to be backed by evidence,” the South Bend, Indiana, mayor told CNN.

Meanwhile, Gabbard took to Twitter on Sunday, saying, “If they can falsely portray me as a traitor, then they can do it to anyone.”

Clinton, who lost the 2016 vote to Donald Trump in a surprising defeat, had previously stated that she believes Russian interference was a factor in her loss to Trump in the race for the White House.

US intelligence agencies claimed Moscow had meddled in the election with a campaign of email hacking and online propaganda aimed at sowing discord in the United States, hurting Clinton in favor of Trump.

Both Trump and Russia, however, repeatedly denied the accusations.

The president on Sunday sympathized with the Hawaii representative, lashing out at Clinton over her claim.

Former US Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has slammed the Trump administration’s decision to pull out of the INF Treaty as a “gift to (Vladimir) Putin”.

Last week, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that Washington would suspend its obligations under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty and begin a six-month withdrawal process.

The following day Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Moscow was providing a mirror response.

Speaking at an event hosted by Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and its Institute of Politics and Public Service on Wednesday night, Clinton claimed that the current administration withdrew “without really holding Putin accountable for his cheating on the treaty”, Sputnik reported.

“I think there is agreement, it started in the Obama administration, that the Russians were not only developing intermediate-range capacity, but deploying it — and so, when that happens… it seems to me that you want to do some public diplomacy. We clearly have pictures and we clearly know a lot about their cheating, and we should have done a better job in making it abundantly clear, not only to the American people but the Russian people, and Europeans, and others who are on the front lines, that the Russians were evading responsibilities in the INF”, Clinton said.

She went on to tell the crowd that instead of demanding talks on the matter, the US decided to pull out, and claimed that Russia was going “to go forward and develop even more of these” weapons.

Looking at the situation from a global perspective, Clinton suggested that the world could face some bleak prospects following the collapse of the landmark treaty:

“It increases the unpredictability, and I believe the danger, that can come from throwing around more missiles and weapons of all kinds, but particularly nuclear ones, within the European theatre. (…) The last thing the world needs right now is a nuclear arms race”.

Last week, Pompeo announced that Washington would be suspending its obligations under the INF Treaty starting on February 2.

Shortly after the withdrawal announcement, Putin held a meeting with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, during which the head of state said that Moscow was suspending its obligations under the INF Treaty in response to Washington’s move. While saying that Moscow was still open to negotiations, Putin instructed the ministers not to initiate talks on the matter.

In addition, he stressed that the use of target rockets and the deployment of Mk 41 launchers in Europe since 2014 by the United States was a direct violation of the arms control treaty and reiterated that Moscow had been fully complying with the agreement.

Putin further emphasized that notwithstanding reciprocal measures, Russia should not and would not be drawn into an arms race.

In December, the US gave Russia a 60 day warning about withdrawing from the treaty, asking Moscow to return compliance by destroying the missiles that allegedly violate the treaty. The 60 days were up at the beginning of February.

The United States has repeatedly accused Russia of violating the 1987 treaty with the development of its 9M729 ground-based missile systems (known as the SSC-8 under US classification), which Washington claimed had a range of over 1,000 km, while the agreement bans missiles with ranges between 500 and 5,500 km.

Moscow has vehemently denied the claims, citing a lack of proof, and stressed that the range of these weapons was 480 km, which is in full compliance of the INF.

The INF Treaty was signed by the Soviet Union and the US, and envisages the destruction of all nuclear-armed ground-launched ballistic and cruise missiles with ranges between 500 and 5,500 kilometers (about 300 to 3,400 miles).

In her recent remarks, the U.S. defeated candidate in the 2016 presidential elections pointed to the current challenges in Europe and tried to take a stance accordingly! Hillary Clinton, who spoke briefly of her possible presence in the 2020 presidential elections before, warned against the raise of nationalism in Europe, while praising Angela Merkel’s policies toward immigrants.

“Europe must get a handle on immigration to combat a growing threat from rightwing populists”, Hillary Clinton has said, calling on the European authorities to send out a stronger signal showing they are “not going to be able to continue to provide refuge and support”.
“I admire the very generous and compassionate approaches that were taken particularly by leaders like Angela Merkel, but I think it is fair to say Europe has done its part and must send a very clear message – ‘we are not going to be able to continue provide refuge and support’ – because if we don’t deal with the migration issue it will continue to roil the body politic,” Clinton added.

Clinton criticized U.S. President Donald Trump for his support for the Brexit. Brexit, described by Clinton as the biggest act of national economic self-harm in modern history, “was largely about immigration” she said. Hillary Clinton also warned against Brexit consequences during her speech.

This is while Donald Trump has long been supporting the UK’s exit from the European Union, and has even advised other European countries to follow London’s decision to leave the EU. Regarding Hillary Clinton’s remarks, there are some points that should be taken into consideration:

Firstly, Hillary Clinton’s main goal of praising Europe is to implicitly appeal for a renewed European political support for her in the upcoming presidential election. We can remember that in the 2016 presidential elections, the leaders of the three European countries of Germany, France, and the UK, supported Clinton against Trump.

Hillary Clinton is now trying to regain this support. It should not be forgotten that Hillary Clinton will face a tough in-party competition for the 2020 presidential elections. This is while some Democrat leaders are no longer willing to support Hillary Clinton against her rivals as before.

The second point is about Hillary Clinton’s role in creating the immigration crisis inside Europe and in the international system. In 2013, the former U.S. Secretary of State has played an important role in the establishment of ISIS and other Takfiri and terrorist groups in West Asia. The United States’ indirect financial and arms support for the terrorist and Takfiri groups reached its climax during Hillary Clinton’s presence in the U.S. Department of State.

Under such circumstances, the former foreign Secretary of State is one of the main agents in creating terror and insecurity in West Asia and North Africa. We all know that one of the main reasons for the immigration crisis in Europe is the insecurity raised in the Middle-East as a result of the American officials’ intervention!

Many residents of the Wes-Asian and North African countries, due to the ongoing security crises, and because of the continuous presence of terrorist groups that have been fueled by the United States and its European partners, were forced to immigrate to Western countries. In such a situation, Hillary Clinton speaks as if she has basically had nothing to do with creating this crisis in the West!

The final point is that Hillary Clinton has twice been a candidate in the U.S. presidential elections held in 2008 and 2016, and she was defeated in both. Hence, many Democrat voters prefer to support a second candidate during the 2020 presidential elections. Clinton, however, seems to be willing to re-appear in the next electoral competitions through the lobbies of her husband Bill Clinton, and other remarkable Democrat figures such as Al Gore and Madeleine Albright.

At any rate, the polls’ results indicate that Hillary Clinton doesn’t have a chance to win the next U.S. presidential elections. According to recent polls conducted in the United States, people like Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders and even John Kerry have more chances to win the next elections compared to Hillary Clinton, a fact that Clinton doesn’t want to accept!

Hillary Clinton is still hopeful about the US presidential elections in 2020, despite her failure in 2008 and 2016. This is while experts mention that one of the main reasons of Democrats’ defeat in the previous presidential election was Clinton’s presence as the Party’s final candidate, and the stealing of Bernie Sanders’ vote by Hillary Clinton’s supporters.

As reported by CNN, former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton sent mixed messages when she said she did not want to run for president again, but after hesitating she added that she would like to be president someday.

When asked by tech magazine Recode’s Kara Swisher at a taping Friday of the Recode Decode podcast whether she wanted to run for president again, Clinton said, “No, no.”

But after a pause and some prodding from Swisher, Clinton said, “Well, I’d like to be president.”

“I think, hopefully, when we have a Democrat in the Oval Office in January of 2021, there’s going to be so much work to be done,” she elaborated, later adding, “The work would be work that I feel very well prepared for, having been at the Senate for eight years, having been a diplomat in the State Department, and it’s just going to be a lot of heavy lifting.”

When Swisher asked whether Clinton would be doing that heavy lifting, Clinton replied, “Oh, I have no idea. … I’m not even going to even think about it till we get through this November 6 election about what’s going to happen after that.”

Beyond what CNN reported, it should be noted that after the disclosure of Hillary Clinton’s emails and the Democrats’ betrayal of Bernie Sanders, many of the US citizens in the 2016 presidential elections voted for Trump. Some political analysts in the United States believe that if Bernie Sanders stood in Clinton’s position during the 2016 elections, he would have been able to defeat Trump and enter the White House. The Clintons, however, continue to influence the Democrats and try to get the most out of it. Though former President Bill Clinton is opposed to his wife’s decision to run for the upcoming presidential election, Hillary Clinton doesn’t appear to be reluctant in this regard!

It should be noted that Joe Biden (former vice president of the United States), Bernie Sanders and John Kerry are now considered as the prominent Democrat figures who are likely to become the Party’s nominee in the 2020 presidential elections. However, Democrats now have their main focus on the United States midterm elections, and regarding the raising dissatisfaction of Trump’s government, their success is quite probable.

TEHRAN – Hillary Clinton embarked on a speaking tour of Britain with a message that the Brexit referendum was won on the basis of a big lie and warning that Vladimir Putin has been conducting a “cyber cold war” against the west.

She urged more women to enter politics and praised those who spoke up about the Hollywood movie mogul and Democratic donor Harvey Weinstein, saying his reported behavior was disgusting, The Guardian reported.

But Clinton observed that Donald Trump had admitted to sexual attack and had a long history of misogyny, yet his supporters were comfortable that he was now in the Oval Office.

Some Democrats had urged her to be silent after her defeat to Trump but she was not going to go away, said Clinton. She vowed to play her part in an attempt to win back Democratic seats in the forthcoming midterm elections. She admitted she “just collapsed with real grief and disappointment” after her election defeat.

Clinton, who is touring the country to promote What Happened – her memoir reflecting on the election defeat, told the BBC’s Andrew Marr: “Looking at the Brexit vote now, it was a precursor to some extent of what happened to us in the United States.”

She decried the amount of fabricated information voters were given: “You know, the big lie is a very potent tool and we’ve somewhat kept it at bay in western democracies, partly because of the freedom of the press. There has to be some basic level of fact and evidence in all parts of our society.”

She urged Britain to be cautious about striking a trade deal with Trump, saying he did not believe in free trade.

In other comments during the Cheltenham literary festival, she accused the Kremlin of waging an information war throughout the 2016 US election process. The tactics “were a clear and present danger to western democracy and it is right out of the Putin playbook”, she said.

“We know Russian agents used Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and even Pinterest to place targeted attack ads and negative stories intended not to hurt just me but to fan the flames of division in our society. Russians posed as Americans pretending to be LGBT and gun rights activists, even Muslims, saying things they knew would cause distress.”

She said some of the basics of the Russian interference in the 2016 election had been known, but “we were in the dark about the weaponisation of social media”. She cited new research from Columbia University showing that attack ads on Facebook paid for in roubles were seen by 10 million people in crucial swing states and had been shared up to 340m times.

Clinton said the matter of whether Trump’s campaign cooperated with Russian interference was a subject for congressional investigation. But she called for anyone found guilty of such cooperation with Moscow to be subject to civil and criminal law. “The Russians are still playing on anything and everything they can to turn Americans against each other,” she said.

“In addition to hacking our elections, they are hacking our discourse and our unity. We are in the middle of a global struggle between liberal democracy and a rising tide of illiberalism and authoritarianism. This is a kind of new cold war and it is just getting starting.”

The Russian campaign was leading to nationalism in Europe, democratic backsliding in Hungary and Poland, and a loss of faith in democracy, she said.

Clinton said she had thought the US electorate would have valued calm and composure as traits in their prospective president, and admitted she may not have been suited to reality TV-style campaigning. “I am an authentically reserved person,” she said. “Maybe that is all out the window now and maybe it does not matter how real you actually are, if you are not dancing on the table insulting people, using every rude thing you say to act as if you are tearing down political correctness.”

She said Barack Obama was very measured in his use of words and yet she was branded inauthentic when she tried the same approach. “Women are always judged more harshly.” Clinton said that the way Trump “played on bigotry, prejudice and paranoia was a very important motivator” in his election success.

Clinton dismissed reports that her husband, Bill Clinton, had criticized What Happened: “I am going to start calling things that are lies lies. I am not going to be tiptoeing around about it.” There was a small city industry “churning out lies about me and my family,” Clinton said.

When challenged about whether she had been wrong to denigrate women who had claimed her husband had made improper sexual advances, Clinton said the issue had been litigated, but the pattern of behavior by powerful men needed to be addressed.

Speaking later at the Southbank Centre as part of the London literary festival, Clinton said both Democrats and Republicans were scratching their heads thinking about how to interpose a system amid concerns that Trump could – in a fit of pique – gain access to the nuclear codes and order a nuclear attack. She said she had never expressed such a fear about a US president’s access to nuclear weapons.

She said one proposal was for the president to be required to seek the support of the defense secretary or secretary of state before launching an attack. She added she did not know if the Trump presidency would survive, claiming that many Republicans were as concerned as her about the damage being done to American institutions.
