Araghchi: Iran’s Foreign Ministry acted as ‘foreign ministry of Resistance Front’

TEHRAN (Iran News) Addressing lawmakers during a parliamentary session on the first-year review of the Seventh Development Plan on Monday, Araghchi said several of his regional trips – including visits to Damascus and Beirut at the height of regional conflicts – as well as meetings, phone calls, and correspondence with counterparts and international organization chiefs, were all aimed at backing Iran’s allies and advancing shared objectives across the region.

He said Tehran had pushed for greater use of regional and international organizations such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. “At our request, three emergency OIC meetings were held to discuss developments in Palestine, Lebanon, and Iran – an unprecedented frequency in such a short time,” Araghchi noted.

Araghchi also highlighted the ministry’s active engagement in defending Iran’s sovereignty, countering unilateral sanctions, and strengthening a multipolar international order.

He said Iranian diplomacy had played a leading role in mobilizing global condemnation of the US and Israeli acts of aggression, winning support from more than 120 countries.

The minister added that these efforts complemented Iran’s good-neighborliness policy and its expanding strategic relations with Russia and China.

Iran, US exchanging messages, but no negotiation process begun: Foreign Ministry

TEHRAN (Iran News) Speaking at his weekly press briefing in Tehran on Monday, Baqaei made the remarks in response to a question about Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi’s visit to Oman last week and whether he had received a message from the US during the trip.

“There was no official message,” the spokesperson said, adding that various intermediaries are making efforts to bring the two sides closer together and that messages are indeed being conveyed. “However, this does not in any way signify the start of a negotiation process between Iran and the United States.”

Oman to clarify imported water issue

Baqaei said no accusations are directed at Tehran over water imported to Oman, describing earlier claims of contamination as baseless and due to a technical error. The Omani side will soon issue a statement clarifying the matter, he added.

Rejecting US accusations

Responding to questions about allegations in Jeffrey Epstein’s case files involving Iran, the spokesperson said the emails attributed to him—calling for military action or pressure against Iran—are not surprising, as anti-Iran activities have long been part of US policy circles.

He added that what is notable is Epstein’s background in corruption and human trafficking, crimes confirmed by US authorities themselves. His reported involvement shows that individuals with such criminal records are among those hostile to the Iranian nation, Baqaei said.

Iran condemns US military moves in Caribbean

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson condemned US military activities in the Caribbean Sea and Latin America, calling them a clear threat to international peace and security. “Foreign Ministry”

He said Washington’s claim that the operations aim to combat drug trafficking lacks any legal basis under international law. “No country is permitted, under the pretext of fighting transnational crimes such as drug trafficking, to violate another nation’s sovereignty or territorial integrity,” he added.

Baqaei also said US threats against Venezuela and other Latin American states are legally and politically unjustifiable and run counter to the UN Charter’s principles prohibiting the use or threat of force.

Regional consensus that Israel is main source of instability

The Iranian diplomat said there is now no doubt among regional countries that the main threat comes from the Israeli regime. He added, however, that even using the word “threat” is not entirely accurate, as the region is already engaged in a real war with Israel, citing the genocide in Gaza and acts of aggression against other countries including Syria, Qatar, and Lebanon.

A clear consensus has emerged among regional states that that Israel is the primary and active source of danger, and that regional countries must rely on mutual understanding and cooperation to ensure their collective security.

Foreign Ministry Backs Women Entrepreneurs and Business Leaders

TEHRAN (Iran News) Speaking on Monday at the International Women’s Leadership Conference titled “Naghsh-e Jahan, Naghsh-e Zanan” (The Role of Women in the World’s Design), hosted by the Isfahan Chamber of Commerce, Zahra Ershadi praised the resilience and global contributions of Iranian businesswomen.

“Despite unjust sanctions, Iranian women entrepreneurs have played a key role in presenting the country’s economic and cultural potential to the international community,” she said.

Ershadi added that if the activities of these women are systematically guided within the framework of national economic strategies, they can significantly accelerate the country’s development.

She emphasized the importance of cooperation between government institutions and the private sector to transform this vital potential into sustainable economic growth, stating:

“Expanding Iran’s global economic relations is impossible without engaging half of the country’s population — women.”

Ershadi noted that in the past decade, women have made remarkable progress in higher education, in knowledge-based enterprises, and in the private sector, calling these achievements “a promising sign for the nation’s future.”

“Sanctions have not stopped the determination of creative Iranian women,” she added. “They have continued to shine in driving economic dynamism.”

She stressed that facilitating women’s participation across sectors is a core strategy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is committed to creating supportive mechanisms for women in diplomacy, trade, and international cooperation.

At the same conference, Zahra Khodadadi, head of the Parliamentary Women and Family Caucus, announced that the Seventh National Development Plan sets a target of 25% growth in women’s job skills, to be pursued through comprehensive training in marketing and modern digital technologies.

Khodadadi stated that expanding innovation infrastructure for women and families will make business activities more flexible and inclusive.

“We need to create mother-and-child innovation centers where women can balance family responsibilities with economic and social participation,” she explained.

She underlined that economic and social resilience requires a comprehensive, multi-sectoral approach, involving both government and private institutions.

The lawmaker noted that women entrepreneurs operating in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have proven their ability to achieve maximum efficiency with limited resources.

“Women have always turned challenges into opportunities,” Khodadadi said. “Through creativity and entrepreneurship, they have contributed meaningfully to the national economy.”

She added that Iranian women have created new income models through local businesses, and are playing visible roles in fields such as digital health, green technology, sustainable agriculture, and the knowledge-based economy.

In macroeconomic policymaking, she said, women’s role in strengthening economic resilience is being emphasized. Achieving tangible results from this strategy, however, requires production networking and participation in economic consortiums.

“Women entrepreneurs are at the forefront of promoting a human-centered economy, contributing to national identity, innovation, and social participation,” Khodadadi remarked.

She added that women often excel during critical economic moments, and stressed that establishing fair mechanisms to develop and simplify women’s entrepreneurship, along with revising related laws, is now a legislative priority.

The event, focused on women’s roles in economic resilience and reconstruction, brought together Iranian and international women entrepreneurs at the Isfahan Chamber of Commerce. “Foreign Ministry”

Highlights included the unveiling of the National Consortium of Women Entrepreneurs, several economic-focused expert panels, and honoring distinguished women business leaders.

According to officials, during the first half of this year, more than 64,000 electronic business license applications were submitted in Isfahan Province — a sign of the growing participation of women in Iran’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Foreign Ministry summons EU envoys to Tehran to protest ‘interfering stance’

TEHRAN (Iran News) Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-e Ravanchi has summoned ambassadors of European Union countries to Tehran to protest what he described as the bloc’s interfering stance in the Persian Gulf region’s affairs and the allegations leveled against Iran.

The ambassadors were summoned on Tuesday, a day after foreign ministers and senior officials from the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and the European Union (EU) held their 29th Joint Council and Ministerial Meeting in Kuwait. In their final statement, the participants reiterated the United Arab Emirates’ territorial claims over the three Iranian islands of Abu Musa, the Lesser Tunb, and the Greater Tunb.

They also “stressed the importance of ensuring the peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program” and accused Iran of regional escalation through its ballistic missile and drone programs, according to the text of the statement published on the council’s website.

During his meeting with the summoned ambassadors, Takht-e Ravanchi reaffirmed Iran’s indisputable and perpetual sovereignty over the islands of Abu Musa, the Lesser Tunb, and the Greater Tunb, calling them inseparable parts of the country.

He said the EU’s support for the UAE’s “unfounded” claims over the islands violated the principles of national sovereignty and territorial integrity, strongly condemning the bloc’s politicized and biased stance.

Addressing allegations about Iran’s missile program, Takht-e Ravanchi dismissed them as interference in Iran’s internal affairs and rejected false and exaggerated narratives.

He emphasized that Iran’s indigenous defense capabilities, including its missile program, are an inherent right to self-defense and contribute to regional security and stability. “Foreign Ministry”

The deputy foreign minister also referred to a recent move by Britain, France, and Germany—collectively known as the E3—to return UN Security Council sanctions against Iran under the so-called snapback mechanism of the 2015 nuclear deal officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

He said the EU, as coordinator of the JCPOA Joint Commission, had failed—along with the E3—to uphold its commitments and had instead misused the dispute resolution mechanism outlined in the agreement, thereby obstructing diplomacy.

They should be accountable for their destructive performance instead of repeating clichéd and entirely false allegations, Takht-e Ravanchi added.

In a message on the social media platform X, Baghaei criticized the United States for its actions, stating that the real aim of these escalating limitations is to disrupt Iran’s diplomatic activities at the United Nations.

“The real objective behind the increasing restrictions imposed by the US administration on Iranian diplomats and their dependents in New York is to disrupt Iran’s diplomatic performance within the United Nations,” he wrote.

He also emphasized, “Applying such cheap restrictions on our diplomats’ movements and even on their daily grocery shopping is not only a blatant violation of the US obligations under the Headquarters Agreement but also a new low in terms of showcasing the extent of animosity of the US administration toward Iranians.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani has mentioned that how Tehran had responded to the use of a fictitious name for the Persian Gulf during a recent sporting event in Iraq.

In a weekly conference, he talked about how the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had complained to the Iraqi government about the matter, and that Ministry of Sport and Youth and Football Federation had also taken action to protest the move.

“Charlie Hebdo caricatures clear instance of hate speech”

Kanaani has denounced the offensive caricature published by Charlie Hebdo, calling the action a blatant example of hate speech and a provocation, noting, Charlie Hebdo caricatures were offensive to both the status of women in society and the religious sanctuaries of the Iranian people.

“We are disappointed that this magazine is produced in a country that claims to cherish values and defend others’ rights but fails to stand by the most evident principles and standards that govern international law,” he added.

The official reaffirmed that the Iranian foreign ministry had summoned the French ambassador in Tehran shortly after the desecration to inform that country that the caricatures had disrespected Islamic beliefs.

The spokesperson said that the Zionist regime of Israel was involved in the dissemination of the Charlie Hebdo caricatures since the event coincided with the Zionists’ attempt to damage the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Palestine.

He called on all governments and countries throughout the globe to respond appropriately to such sacrilegious actions and lambasted the French government for encouraging the distribution of offensive cartoons under the guise of freedom of speech.

“Iran, China comprehensive deal result of officials’ political will”

Regarding the 25-year partnership agreement signed by Iran and China, Kanaani stated that it demonstrates the political will of senior officials of the two countries to advance bilateral ties. He also noted that the two sides would keep holding negotiations to facilitate the partnership agreement’s implementation.

“Afghanistan embassy in Iran”

In response to a question on the operation of Afghanistan’s embassy in Iran, he remarked that Iran’s position on the matter has not changed, and that the Afghan diplomatic mission would continue its operations in Iran within the pre-existing parameters.

“Trips of President Raisi to regional countries”

Regarding the impending visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to the region, the official stated that trips to Turkey and Syria are being planned as a result of invitations from the leaders of those two countries.

“Qatar-Iran ties”

The governor of the Central Bank of Iran and an Iranian deputy foreign minister visited Qatar last week to strengthen bilateral banking and financial exchanges, he added, noting that Doha and Tehran have been involved in bilateral and international contacts.

“Talks on lifting anti-Iranian sanctions and cooperation with IAEA”

The official also mentioned that conversations between Iran and foreign powers are continuing to discuss removing sanctions against the country and restarting a 2015 agreement on its nuclear program.

Although he added that he was unaware of any planned visits by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to Tehran, he emphasized that Iran and the IAEA are still working together.

Kanaani also criticized some European authorities for utilizing the rules and regulations of international law to further their personal goals against Iran by supporting some rioters.

“Families of victims of Ukrainian plane”

In response to a query on the compensation provided to the relatives of those died in the tragic accident of the Ukrainian airliner three years ago, he stated that Iran will live up to its international obligations while acting in accordance with its domestic laws.

He said that an Iranian court is looking into the situation and that the Ukrainian ambassador to Iran has been summoned to testify.

Kanaani reaffirmed that Iran has made it clear that it would make amends for the crash deaths.

“Ties between Iran, Iraqi autonomous region of Kurdistan”

He also made reference to connections between Iran and Kurdistan, an autonomous part of Iraq, adding that these ties are strong and that the Islamic Republic is prepared to assist various Iraqi groups in resolving their issues.

“Designation of IRGC as terrorist entity”

The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman stressed that those who have committed terrorist acts do not have the right to utilize such rhetoric against the heroes of the war against terrorism in response to reports that some states have attempted to label the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.

“Court of Hamid Nouri”

Kanaani noted that Iran will pursue the matter in light of the Court of Appeal’s verdict against Iranian national Hamid Nouri, and he called on the Swedish government to take note of the consular rights of foreign people who have been wrongfully detained in Sweden.

“Iran frozen assets in South Korea”

He also highlighted that the Islamic Republic will keep trying to get its South Korean bank accounts unfrozen, noting that this endeavor will be apart from any other bilateral disputes.

“Iran water rights”

In response to a question on Turkish plans to construct dams on rivers that flow into Iran, he said that Tehran will take its right to shared river water seriously.

Kanaani stated that Iranian authorities will undertake discussions to persuade the Taliban to respect Iran’s rights with regard to the Helmand River in Afghanistan.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –According to Nasser Kanaani, spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, the UN special rapporteur’s reports illustrate how much the US government sanctions have caused “pain” and “damage” to the Iranian people rather than the government.

Referring to the UN special rapporteur’s report on sanctions against Iran, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said on Tuesday that the report shows that the U.S. administration’s unilateral and criminal sanctions, as well as so-called secondary sanctions, have had a negative impact on Iranian citizens’ livelihoods rather than their alleged target, Iranian government organizations.

Kanaani went on to explain that, contrary to the U.S. administration’s claim that the sanctions were placed against the Iranian regime and its institutions, the sanctions have plainly had a severe impact on the people’s livelihood and have only contributed to their misery.

In her report, the UN Human Rights Council’s Special Rapporteur Alena Douhan said she has been greatly affected by the impact of sanctions on Iranian citizens suffering from “genetic diseases” or “cancer”.

“What made a lasting impression on me was the impact of the sanctions on the health care system,” Professor Douhan said in an interview with the website of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights published on Saturday, September 12.

Douhan, an international law professor, also said sanctions is the cause of death among certain people afflicted with serious diseases.

“It has usually been maintained that unilateral sanctions are imposed by ‘good guys on bad guys’ for some ‘supreme purpose’ and with good intentions, but unfortunately in reality that is the people of the country who are affected enormously,” she notes.

The Special Rapporteur also says though Iran is under severe economic sanctions it is has been providing services to millions of refugees from Afghanistan.

“Iran gives refugees free access to primary health care and schooling, regardless of whether they are documented or non-documented,” Douhan noted.

“The purpose of my visit was limited by the scope of my mandate – to assess humanitarian impact of unilateral coercive measures on the enjoyment of human rights. For this purpose, I talked to all affected groups, both governmental and non-governmental, and got the strong impression that the sanctions have a massive impact on people’s lives. I met officials in hospitals, visited hospitals and universities, and business enterprises. I spoke with all 17 UN missions in Iran, as well as with embassy officials from both countries that support the sanctions and those that oppose them. I also visited Isfahan and talked to associations representing the Afghan community. There, I spoke directly with people affected by the sanctions,” she noted.

According to Douhan, the impact of the sanctions is not always clear but sometimes “it is rather obvious.”

“In the cases where health is at stake, it is very clear. Let me give you an example. For a while, Iran produces around 95 per cent of medicine domestically. After sanctions have been imposed Iran largely lost access to the raw materials or faces impediments in delivery of proper quality raw materials,” she said.

“If companies are willing to work with Iran, there are two problems still. The first one is the transfer of money. Even UNICEF, which operates in Iran and works with a Swedish pharmaceutical company, cannot guarantee payment from Iran to Sweden as Iran is cut off from SWIFT and banks decide not to risk. Thus, the payment had to be made in alternative ways via third countries.

If everything has still worked up to this point, then there is the problem of delivery. All transport companies in Iran are under sanctions. Anyone who delivers goods to Iran can be penalized by secondary sanctions. Any transportation insurance company is under sanctions against Iran.

I have talked to some of humanitarian associations. We have seen the documents that clearly show that they do not want to sell the drugs to Iran. I have talked to the Swedish and Swiss governments and to the pharmaceutical companies, because we have clear indications that there is a connection with the sanctions. Because of the lack of medicine, we have an increasing deterioration in the health of the population in Iran, especially among people suffering from rare and severe deceases. You can see the increasing death rate not only in intensive care patients like diabetics, cancer patients and many others, but also in less dangerous diseases. Deaths have tripled,” she spoke of her observations in Iran.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry refused unfounded reports by certain Western media concerning a detained Iranian diplomat in Belgium, describing them as “shallow news made for future misuses.”

According to the Ministry’s official website, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh made the remarks in a statement on Wednesday while reacting to reports by Reuters and some other European media outlets about Assadollah Asadi who is being kept in a jail in Antwerp, Belgium, on false charges.

Referring to the reports as “unfounded,” Khatibzadeh said, the scenario of Asadi’s arrest and his detention was an “unacceptable innovation.”

He added that countries involved in the Asadi’s case are being held accountable for violating the rights of the Iranian diplomat.

Khatibzadeh rejected the claims made by Reuters and certain European media outlets that Asadi had warned Belgian authorities.

Based on the false reports that have been published since October 9, the jailed Iranian diplomat had threatened Belgian officials that unknown groups would try to retaliate if he was found guilty.

Asadi was arrested in Germany in June 2018 on the false charges of being linked to a bomb attack plot in the French capital, Paris, according to a report by Tehran Times.

In October 2018, prosecutors said Germany extradited the Iranian diplomat to Belgium.

Iran regards the detention of Asadi as an unlawful act and a violation of international law and the provisions of the 1961 Vienna Convention, said the spokesman.

He noted that Tehran has already informed authorities of the relevant European governments of its strong protest to the Asadi’s scenario.

Khatibzadeh stressed that Iran reserves the right to respond proportionately to this end.

Commenting on the same issue, Iran’s Embassy in Belgium on Tuesday rejected the “biased” reports by certain Western media about Asadi noting those media outlets are struggling to damage Iran-Europe relations.

Releasing a statement, the Iranian embassy said reports about Asadi, who is illegally incarcerated in Antwerp, were “contorted” and far from reality, Mehr News Agency (MNA) reported.

Noting that Asadi had rejected those allegations and maintained that he never made any threats against Belgium, the embassy statement added, “Any hint at reprisal made by the media is patently absurd and an attempt to take the issue beyond its case limits with the broader aim of instrumentalizing this judicial proceeding in order to implicate the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

It advised Belgian authorities against the media hyperbole that is “aimed at torpedoing Iran-Europe relations.”
