The Chinese health authority said Thursday that it received reports of 105 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland Wednesday.
The WHO is planning to send a team to China to investigate the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic in the hope of being better able to fight the spread of coronavirus.
"We remain in the eye of the storm," WHO regional director for Europe, Hans Kluge, told a news conference, noting that about half of worldwide confirmed cases were in Europe.
The number of asymptomatic cases in China surged, as Beijing continued to struggle to extinguish the outbreak despite drastic containment efforts.
The US has hit a landmark of over 100,000 coronavirus infections, as it's becoming the world’s epicenter for the disease.
The US could become the global epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic, the World Health Organization said on Tuesday.
