Iranian Anti-Narcotics Police Chief General Mohammad Massoud Zahedian and his Turkish counterpart, Ibrahim Hakki Seydioglullari, agreed to promote cooperation between the two neighboring countries in various security fields, including the campaign against illicit drugs.

Meeting in Ankara, the Iranian and Turkish officials exchanged views about a range of issues, inducing ways to boost relations between Tehran and Ankara with the aim of fighting against narcotics trafficking.

General Zahedian and Seydioglullari also talked about closer intelligence and training cooperation between the two countries to combat the smuggling of illicit drugs.

Different aspects of the growth in production of narcotics and drugs precursors in Afghanistan and ways to fight money laundering was also discussed at the meeting.

Iran, which has a 900-kilometer common border with Afghanistan, has been used as the main conduit for smuggling Afghan drugs to narcotics kingpins in Europe.

Despite high economic and human costs, the Islamic Republic has been actively fighting drug-trafficking over the past three decades.

The country has spent more than $700 million on sealing its borders and preventing the transit of narcotics destined for European, Arab and Central Asian countries.

The war on drug trade originating from Afghanistan has claimed the lives of nearly 4,000 Iranian police officers over the past four decades.

Ali Larijani, the Speaker of Iranian Parliament and Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam vowed in a meeting in Hanoi to boost economic ties between the two countries.

“The level of economic cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Vietnam should increase along with progress in political ties,” said Ali Larijani, the Speaker of Iranian Parliament, on Tuesday.

The Iranian top parliamentarian made the remarks in Hanoi during a bilateral meeting with Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

“Today, we are celebrating the 45th anniversary of relations between Iran and Vietnam and these relations should be tapped effectively and political exchanges should get improved between the two countries,” asserted the Iranian top lawmaker in this meeting.

“The parliaments of the two countries are enjoying good relations but economic ties have not progressed along with political relations; so in the last year we passed new bills in Iranian parliament designating new axis for development which a part of it is a bout investment in areas of oil, gas, petrochemical industries, and petrochemical products,” recounted Mr. Larijani.

The Iranian official also exchanged views on other issues including the crisis in Syria and the avenues of cooperation in areas of agriculture, electricity, telecommunications, and banking problems.

“Iran is willing to let other countries invest in Makran region (a coastal strip in southeastern part of Iran) and this is a good opportunity for Vietnam to invest in Iran,” highlighted the Iranian top legislator.

The Vietnamese premier, for his part, reminded that he had paid an official visit to Tehran in 2014 and said, “I have travelled to many countries but when I arrived in Iran I recognized that Iran is a rich country with tremendous opportunities for cooperation.”

Adidas Boost is 5 years old! I know, right? When this running-specific trainer tech first appeared way back in 2013, you probably said, “Well, this looks kind of like polystyrene, can’t see it catching on, any more than Adidas Spring Blade, from 2013 did.”

Shows what YOU know, homes. With Yeezy Boost and NMD helping propel the energy-returning sole to the catwalks and urban streets, and runners loving it, Boost is everywhere. And now the 5 years of Boost anniversary pack is here with the Energy Boost OG, Energy Boost and UltraBoost (limited-edition).

To celebrate the big 5, the running shoe that launched the Boost line (Energy Boost) has been updated and re-released in its original black and yellow, bee-flavoured colour-way.

Also in the anniversary pack are “Adidas’ most iconic and loved silhouettes”, the Energy Boost OG, Energy Boost and UltraBoost LTD.

Boost refers to the aforementioned, home-tech-packaging-material-esque material in the sole. It adds lightweight cushioning technology and excellent energy return “for every single stride,” and has been worn by everyone from marathon world record-breakers, Mary Keitany and Dennis Kimetto to demented rhythmic shouting genius, Kanye West.

These shoes all have Boost gas in the sole and midsole – in fact there is “85% more” of it in the new Energy Boost than was in that first shoe, way back in 2013 – to store and return “superfast, lightweight energy” but it’s the silhouette of the shoes that probably really ensured their success.

Also on board and trampled underfoot:

• “Improved and simplified midfoot construction combined with a lighter cage for a more accommodating fit.”

• “Updated Torsion System for a smoother landing and midfoot support push-off.”

• “Enhanced Techfit with a foot-hugging upper with zoned elastic support in the forefoot, identified using Aramis research and testing, provides superior comfort and a snug feel.”

• “Stretchweb is new to the Energy silhouette, with a Continental rubber outsole adapting to every runner’s foot strike by moving in harmony with Boost to provide a smoother, more flexible and enhanced grip.”

They all look suitably iconic and edgy, five years on, in stark contrast to your haircut from that year.

Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami says the Islamic Republic will seek permission from no country to bolster its defense power.

Brig. Gen. Hatami made the remark on Saturday, which marked the beginning of the annual Sacred Defense Week in Iran.

“As long as the rhetoric of some [countries] is one of threat, Iran’s reinforcement of its defense power will continue,” the Iranian defense minister said, adding that, “Iran will not seek permission from any country to produce different missiles, and land, naval, and aerial defense weapons.”

During his speech at the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump had accused the Islamic Republic of “building dangerous missiles.”

Iran has said time and again that its defense might — including its missile capabilities — are for purely defensive purposes. Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani publicly reiterated that point in his own speech at the UNGA on Wednesday.

“I wish to underscore here that the defense capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, including our missiles, are solely defensive deterrents for the maintenance of regional peace and stability and the prevention of adventurist tendencies of irrational aspirants,” President Rouhani said.

Brig. Gen. Hatami echoed those remarks in his Saturday comments by saying Iran’s “defense policy is deterrence.”

“Our defensive plans, tactics, and techniques correspond with the kinds of threats we face and the country’s geopolitical situation,” he said.

The Iranian defense minister referred to Trump’s “discourteous remarks” at the UNGA and said such threatening language would impact Iran’s will in no way.
