TEHRAN (Iran News) Asia Rugby’s Executive Committee (EXCO) held a virtual ad hoc meeting on Monday, during which they introduced the chairpersons of fourteen committees.

At this meeting, Mirmehdi Hosseini, the head of Iranian rugby, was elected as the chair of the Asia Rugby Confederation’s International Relations Committee.

It is also noteworthy that Hosseini received the Asia Rugby Annual Award for Character in 2023, recognizing his significant contributions to the growth of rugby in Iran.

The International Relations Committee is one of the key committees within the Asian Rugby Confederation. Its focus is on managing international partnerships and relations, as well as aligning the international strategies of Asia Rugby with its overall objectives.

Speaking at an EAEU summit in St. Petersburg where the agreement was signed on Monday, Putin underscored Iran’s economic strength and technological advancements, emphasizing that strengthening ties with Iran would bring immense benefits to both the country and EAEU member states.

He further highlighted that the trade liberalization with Iran would stimulate the development of critical transport routes like the North-South International Corridor, fostering opportunities for scientific and industrial collaboration, as well as facilitating tourist exchanges and delegation visits between the nations.

Expressing optimism, President Putin expressed hope that the parliaments of both Iran and EAEU member states would swiftly ratify the newly established free trade agreement.

The five-member EAEU comprises ex-Soviet states: Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Under the free trade agreement, Iran and the bloc will eliminate tariffs on 87% of goods traded between them.

This landmark agreement is expected to bolster economic cooperation, enhance trade connectivity, and pave the way for further strategic partnerships between Iran and the EAEU.

Addressing the opening ceremony of a meeting of the permanent budget and planning committee of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in Tehran on Tuesday, Qalibaf said that the meeting will have a significant impact on the identification of strengths and weaknesses of a campaign to return Asia to its deserved global status.

What we are witnessing today in the form of the rotation of power in the international system, can become a basis for Asia’s call to revise and renew the structure of international bodies such as the United Nations, especially in areas of economy, trade, and the international financial system, he said.

The way forward to achieve this goal and to manage this historical turning point is to institutionalize multilateral cooperation in the framework of regional integration, he stated.

Convergence between different religions of the world is one of the important factors for the survival of humanity and for strengthening peace, security, and tolerance, elsewhere in his remarks, he said.

The interaction between different religions plays a fundamental role in strengthening convergence and mutual cooperation among the nations of the world, he said.

In accordance with international conventions and treaties such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, any kind of religious insult and desecration and any illegal behavior against individuals and groups due to religion are prohibited, he noted.

Referring to a recent move to desecrate the Holy Quran in Sweden, Qalibaf said that the move is in contradiction to the principle of respect for religious values ​, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Islamic countries strongly condemn such actions.

Insulting the holy books, religious sanctities, and the Holy Quran under any pretext by the Swedish government is not acceptable, he said, adding that disguising such actions as freedom of speech will hurt the feelings of more than one billion Muslims living around the world.

Meanwhile on the sidelines of the event Qalibaf met Arab Parliament Speaker as well as Palestinian counterpart. Qalibaf met and talked with Arab Parliament Speaker Adel al-Asoumi  and in the meeting, the Speaker of the Arab Parliament stated that he is visiting Tehran for the first time, expressed his hope that these meetings will be focused on serving the nations and in line with the realization of the interests of the countries.

In this meeting, Qalibaf emphasized the expansion of parliamentary relations between Iran’s Parliament and the member countries of the APA and also the Arab Parliament.

Also, the head of the delegation of the Palestinian National Council met and talked with Iran’s Parliament Speaker.

In this meeting, Baqer Qalibaf and Ali Faisal, the Deputy Chairman of the Palestinian National Council (PNC), stressed the expansion of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

The annual meeting of the Standing Committee on Budget and Planning as well as the Basic Documents Working Group of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) with the participation of 20 countries commenced today on Tuesday morning, hosted by Tehran.

Speaking in a press conference on Monday, the secretary of the congress and secretary of Construction Engineering Organization Mr. Omid Reza Riahi revealed more details on this important event I the field of construction in Asia.

He said that in line with materializing the policies of developing sustainable economic development as well as boosting export-centered production and services and concurrent with Engineers Day, the first congress of engineers, builders, manufacturers, and exporters of construction will be held in Tehran on February 23 with presence of activists in the field of construction from more than 15 Asian countries like China, Qatar, Oman, Turkey, Armenia, Iraq, Syria, the UAE, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan.

Riahi said that the event is aimed at promoting talks and preparing international contracts in exports of products and modern technologies of construction industry as well as exporting technical and engineering exports and commercial insurances and international transportation laws.

He said that while Construction Engineering Organization is 26-year-old, some 604000 engineers in different fields are members of this organization.

He reiterated that this international event will be held with collaboration of Trade Promotion Organization, Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization, Tehran Construction Engineering Organization, Facilities Management Society, Technology Trade Center, International Market Construction System, Association of Mass Builders of Tehran, and National Mass Constructors Association and university centers as well as international economic activists and domestic experts and state officials.

Meanwhile in the presser, the CEO of International Sakht Bazar System Mr Hamed Amjadi speaking in the presser called the event as the biggest Asian gathering of construction industry, adding that potentials of the participating countries in the field of construction industry are to be displayed in this event.

Head of Facilities Management Society Mr Misaq Salmasi also said that they are after identifying ways for developing exports of technical and engineering services to the neighboring countries, adding that Iran can solve problems of those countries in construction and this issue is important in the current recession condition of the country and is important for the engineering community of the country.

Meanwhile a member of board of directors of Tehran Construction Engineering Organization Mr. Gholamreza Khosh Goftar highlighted the tasks of this organization and said that there are over 70,000 engineers with work permits in reengineering but the country is in recession and it has surplus engineers and this event can present capabilities of Iranian engineers and construction activists to Asia and the world.

Speaking to ILNA, Mehdi Fakour talked about the latest development regarding the Yalda Oilfield and said that they think the field has not only oil but also gas and according to the approval of the NIOC, the second exploration well is under construction and there is no special problem.

He added that the company hands over the exploration results to the producing companies and producing companies should implement the developmental programs on them.

He reiterated that due to the geographical position of South Pars, they expect the reserves of the area are more than what exist now in other words it has great potentials.

Fakour reiterated that the company does not focus only on a certain field unless for its necessity and it is omnipresent in all fields and it will help time sharing and reducing costs. He stated that therefore they defined some projects with five Asian and one European company which cover all geography of Iran and in fact there is issue about certain field and results of all fields are useable and producing companies can do development based on the company’s method.

On cooperation with countries like Russia in exploration projects, he said that NIOC has a study working with Geocom Company of Russia in one of the blocks whose study results will be seen in the Abadan Plain.

Yalda Oilfield is located 30 kilometers east of the South Pars Gas Field in southern Iran.

Two years ago and former director of Exploration of the NIOC Mr. Seyed Ali Moallemi said that there would be some 80 undiscovered fields and some drilling project was underway in the Yalda Oilfield and it is approaching its end.

On Tuesday and in a press conference, Fakour said that Iran discovered new oil reserves in the country’s southwest, the details of which will be announced by Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji in the near future.

Iranian experts have also carried out well-logging on an offshore exploratory block in the Persian Gulf with gas reserves estimated at 30 trillion cubic feet, Fakour announced.

“For the first time, we have achieved the method of aerial magnetometry which is used up to a depth of 7,000 meters below the surface of the earth to identify reservoirs and hydrocarbon fields,” the official said.

The technique involves using unmanned aircraft and magnetometers equipped with georeferencing systems and other navigation instruments to perform magnetic scans.
