Iran Improves Its Place in Int’l Trade Rankings

Speaking in the open session of Majlis, Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mr. Reza Rahmani answered to the question from Majlis lawmaker Mr. Seyed Farid Mousavi on the report about Iran’s fall in the doing business rankings. He said that boom in business has different indexes and international trade (Trade Rankings) is one of the ministry’s task relating the boom in business environment.
He went on to say that Iran fell by 4 places last year in the business environment rankings but due to positive performance in the international trade, the country escaped from more slip in doing business rankings.
Rahmani added that Iran moved 45 places in last year’s international ranking, adding that the ministry has fulfilled successfully its task in doing business.
The minister that he has just taken over the helm of the ministry for 11 months and he has taken good measures to improve business measures.
He noted that since his arrival at the ministry, he has tried to minimize the bureaucracy which slows down activities.
Rahmani added that he has tried to ease the process for getting licenses especially for producers and it would boost doing business climate.
He went on to say that Finance Ministry has chosen industry ministry as the second organ in the country for improving the climate of business and the ministry has had active presence in provinces.
He added that the ministry is to launch a comprehensive database and system for upgrading the latest information on the trade in the country.
Rahmani reiterated that this system and database will lead to transparency and combating the corruption and rent-seeking.
Meanwhile Majlis lawmaker Mr. Mousavi criticized the performance of the ministry which led to the fall of Iran in doing business environment rankings and Iran is now placed 128th.
He accused the minister and his ministry of neglecting their task in improving the indexes of business in the country.
