Yazd Ready to Host ECO Traders at ECOFAR Exhibition
TEHRAN – Governor General of Yazd Province Mr. Mohammad Ali Talebi yesterday hosted commercial attaches of ECO member states and exchanged views on the upcoming ECOFAR Exhibition which will be held in Yazd.

During the meeting, Mr. Talebi announced the readiness of Yazd to host ECOFAR Exhibition on November 1-4.  Commercial attaches of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan were present in the meeting.

The exhibition will be held in five categories of construction materials, petrochemical products, food stuff, textile and agro products and 120 pavilions at Yazd Fairground will host the participants.

Addressing the meeting, Mr. Talebi said that he believes ECO member states could have better trade relations and meet their demands by using their huge potentials.

He also called for identifying and presenting the capacities of other countries without using the ECO member states in order to provide raw materials from those states and to export products to the ECO member states.

Talebi went on to say that Yazd has always been a trade hub in the region and it has had many offices which organized business in Iran.

He also pointed to the air and rail capacities of Yazd for transporting the goods, freight and passengers and the province currently has rail link with Tehran, Isfahan, Mashhad, Bandar Abbas and Zahedan and it will be soon connected to Fars Province.

He expressed hope that ambassadors of the ECO member states would attend the opening ceremony of the exhibition, adding that it could be a ground for expanding and strengthening ties between Iran and Yazd with ECO members.

Meanwhile head of Industry, Mine and Trade office in Yazd Mr. Mohammad Reza Alamdari Yazdi, for his part, highlighted potentials and capabilities of Yazd Province, adding that Yazd is the fourth industrial province of Iran and it ranks eighth in terms of non-oil exports.

He added that diversity in production in Yazd is significant and over 800 goods are produced in the province.

Yazdi noted that over 12b tomans are invested in the province daily. He reiterated that Yazd ranks first in the country in terms of minerals and second in terms of mineral capacity.

Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) has ten members. Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan form the regional organization.
