Senior diplomats from Iran, Turkey, and Russia held their second trilateral meeting in Sochi on Tue., prior to the general assembly of the international conference on peace in Syria in the afternoon.
The second trilateral meeting of the high representatives of the guarantor states of the Astana format peace talks on Syria was held in Russian resort city of Sochi on Tuesday morning.
Hossein Jaberi Ansari, the top aide to Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif in Political Issues who also serves as the special envoy for Syrian peace talks, is leading the Iranian delegation in the meeting while Sedat Onal, the Deputy Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs of Turkey, is heading the Turkish delegation.
The Russian president’s special envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev is at the head of the Russian diplomatic delegation in the meeting.
The senior negotiators of Iran, Turkey, and Russia picked up their talks to work on what they discussed on Monday and continued their negotiations exchanging views on the final statement of the tenth international conference on peace in Syria. They also finalized the agenda for the general assembly of the conference.
The tenth edition of the general assembly of the international conference on peace in Syria will be held on Tuesday afternoon with representatives from Syrian government, Syrian opposition groups, guarantor states of Astana format, and observing member states of the peace talks attending the event.
