TEHRAN – Mohammad Mosaddegh, the deputy to Iranian prosecutor general, announced on Wednesday that heavy sentences, including death penalty and up to 20 years in prison, await those who seek to disrupt the national economy and agitate the foreign currency market.
He also said none of the country’s courts are allowed to show leniency toward those who committed such crimes or commute their sentences to cash penalty.
Speaking with IRIB news, Mosaddegh called the volatility in the foreign currency market as serious issue, adding that the “enemy” is plotting to disrupt national economy.
Earlier this week, Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri said the Trump administration has waged an “economic war” against Iran.
