TEHRAN – Cinema Organization of Iran director Mohammad-Mehdi Heidarian said on Sunday that Iran plans to decrease the government role in cinema gradually.
He made the remarks at a press conference in Tehran.
“However, we have reviewed the past and plan to reinforce our supervision,” he added.
Over 100 movie theaters have been launched across Iran over the past year, he said and added, “There has been an increase in license issuance for film productions.”
He also stated that there are plans to extend the country’s overseas collaboration on film productions especially with India, China and some neighboring countries.
