US ambassador says Trump would have vetoed resolution in 2016 that called settlement building a ‘flagrant violation’ of international law.

The United States has said it will not “make the same mistake again” by allowing the UN to pass resolutions critical of Israel, and would exercise its veto on any future condemnation of Israel’s illegal settlement building, Middle East Eye reported.

In a meeting of the UN security council on Monday, ambassador Nikki Haley said the new administration of Donald Trump would have voted against resolution 2334, passed in December 2016.

The resolution stated that Israeli regime’s settlement building constituted a “flagrant violation” of international law and had “no legal validity”.
