Warning: The Sedition of Yemen’s Fragmentation
The strategic regions of eastern and southern Yemen have been occupied by forces supported by the United Arab Emirates, and they are expanding their territorial control. These areas fall within the provinces of Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra, where Saudi-aligned forces had previously been stationed. These provinces contain vast oil reserves, vital ports, and nearly one-third of Yemen’s total land area.

Warning: The Sedition of Yemen’s Fragmentation

TEHRAN (Iran News) The Southern Transitional Council, whose main supporter is the United Arab Emirates, has launched this aggression in complete coordination with Saudi Arabia and continues to advance. The fact that Saudi Arabia did not provide military support to its allied local tribes in Hadhramaut against the advance of UAE-backed forces can be interpreted as part of a coordinated Hebrew-Arab design.

Reports indicate that Saudi Arabia may have shifted its focus toward Yemen’s more northern provinces, such as Ma’rib. At the same time, the influence of the Islah Party, formerly supported by Saudi Arabia, has declined in the south and, through coordinated arrangements, its former areas of influence have been handed over to the UAE’s allies.

Considering the above information, it can be said that the UAE is advancing and consolidating its influence in eastern and southern Yemen. The main objective of the UAE and the Southern Transitional Council is stated to be the separation of southern Yemen and the establishment of an independent state. Saudi Arabia’s goals and interests focus on the northern threat in a division of responsibilities, with its main priority being confrontation with the Houthi and Ansar Allah factions in northern Yemen—especially along the Saudi border—which it considers an arm of Iran. It frames the security of its southern borders as the highest justification for any action.

Saudi Arabia, through its support of southern separatists under the supervision of the UAE and the Southern Transitional Council, as well as through local militias and financial, military, and training assistance, seeks to revive the independent state of South Yemen, which existed until 1990.

At the forefront of this confrontation is the issue of Islamist groups. The UAE is strongly opposed to Islamist factions linked to the Muslim Brotherhood (such as the Islah Party), viewing them as a threat to its model of governance in this region. The strengthened Hebrew-Arab current in the UAE is pursuing major economic and logistical goals by controlling ports and expanding economic projects in the areas under its influence, in order to increase soft power and energy security. With the UAE focusing on control of the south, efforts will be concentrated on consolidating its influence in the strategic southern coasts and islands of Yemen (such as Aden, Socotra, and Mukalla). According to what has been published, these areas play a crucial role in securing the UAE’s shipping and commercial routes.

Today, Yemen stands alone, and if it does not receive strategic assistance from Iran in confronting this territorial fragmentation, it is unclear whether it will be able to preserve its former strength. Every decision for proper implementation requires timing. The fragmentation of Yemen would pose a danger to the entire region. Let us come to Yemen’s aid.
