TEHRAN (Iran News) In a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, Araqchi and the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Syria Geir O. Pedersen discussed the latest developments in Syria and the Middle East.
Pedersen briefed the Iranian minister on the UN’s measures to address the problems of Syria.
For his part, Araqchi voiced Iran’s support for the UN’s peace efforts in Syria.
The top Iranian diplomat also urged that the foreign forces should leave the Syrian territories in order for the process of reconstruction of the Arab country to begin immediately.
On the situation in Gaza and Lebanon following the Israeli regime’s acts of aggression, Araqchi said the Zionist regime’s atrocities in Lebanon, committed in frustration, will not remain unanswered.
At least 37 people were killed and nearly 3,000 injured in Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday when pagers and walkie-talkie radios rigged by the Israeli regime explode across the Arab country.
Later on Friday, the Zionist regime launched an air attack on Beirut’s southern suburbs, killing 45 people, including three children and seven women.
The strike, which wrecked two buildings in the Lebanese capital’s Dahiya district during rush hour on Friday, also injured about 60 people.
