The period of discussion of constitutional amendments has been extended in Uzbekistan until July 15
TEHRAN (Iran News) A nationwide discussion of the draft Constitutional Law is being actively organized in all regions of Uzbekistan. Members of Parliament, as well as local deputies in enterprises, institutions and organizations organized a wide explanatory work on the essence and significance of the Constitutional reforms. The process of nationwide discussion of the draft Constitutional Law is widely covered in the local media.
To date, over 57 thousand proposals have been received from the population and institutions of civil society of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the draft Constitutional Law. The results of the analysis show that if in the first days of the nationwide discussion about 700 proposals for the draft Constitutional Law were received per day, today their number has reached up to 10 thousand per day.
“These figures indicate that the nationwide discussion has increased the sense of ownership of citizens in these political processes, and they have an increasing interest in expressing their opinion,” the Legislative Chamber declare.
According to the population and civil society institutions of Uzbekistan, the constitutional reforms in the country are taking place in a timely manner, and the proposals and ideas put forward by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a meeting with members of the Constitutional Commission are unanimously supported by the general public.
The increase in the activity of citizens in expressing opinions on the draft Constitutional Law, the increase in the number of incoming proposals necessitates the extension of the period of nationwide discussion.
Based on the above, the Legislative Chamber adopted a resolution to extend the period for nationwide discussion of the draft Constitutional Law “On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan” until July 15, 2022.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the proposals and opinions of the population of Karakalpakstan, received during the nationwide discussion of the draft Constitutional Law “On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, at a meeting with deputies of the Jokargy Kenes and representatives of the public of Karakalpakstan noted the need to take into account all offers.
That is, Articles 70, 71, 72, 74 and 75 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan will remain unchanged, and the current norms will be preserved.
The committees of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis were instructed to take into account, summarize, study and analyze the proposals and opinions received during the national discussion to develop proposals and implement organizational measures to introduce amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and on their basis to continue work on finalizing the draft Constitutional Law .
