TEHRAN (Iran News) – Pakistan Ambassador to Tehran Rahim Hayat Qureshi met representative of the town of Saravan to Majlis Malak Fazeli and exchanged views on cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.
Fazeli, also a member of Iran-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group and head of fraction of Sistan and Baluchistan Province lawmakers in the parliament, pointed in the meeting to the religious, historical and cultural commonalities between the two nations of Iran and Pakistan and expressed satisfaction over the amicable and peaceful ties between the two states.
He then called for bolstering and expanding the interactions and exchanges between the two countries in all spheres especially in the parliamentary and economic relations.
Fazeli then pointed to the opening of the border terminal of Pishin-Mand and called for operationalizing the markets of Kuhak-Panjgur, and stated that Saravan has several villages that consolidate with neighboring Pakistani villages, and the trade between them which dates back to the old times has created closeness between them. He reiterated therefore opening the border markets in this region will lead to sustainable security which will be gained via developing economic exchanges.
He also reiterated the significance of parliamentary diplomacy for removing hurdles between the two states and called for continuous meetings between the lawmakers of neighboring provinces of Sistan and Baluchistan Province.
Pakistan Ambassador Mr. Qureshi, for his part, pointed to the various co-operations between Iran and Pakistan especially in the parliamentary section, adding that some important steps have been taken for restoring peace and sustainable stability in borders of the two countries, adding that both countries are trying to boost development and livelihood of the border-dwellers by opening border markets like Kuhak Passage.
He then explained the latest situation of Panjgur border markets. He also welcomed Fazel’s suggestion for the continuous meeting between lawmakers of the neighboring border provinces, reiterating that Pakistan Government welcomes any move for boosting economic cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.
