TEHRAN (Iran News) – President Hassan Rouhani of Iran said that US President Donald Trump has committed the “worst crimes and hostilities’ against the noble Iranian nation.

“The US government is a bully and violator of international laws and regulations,” Rouhani said, speaking in a cabinet meeting where Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif presented a detailed report about US fiasco at the UN Security Council on extending an expiring arms embargo against Iran, Mehr News Agency (MNA) reported.

The UNSC overwhelmingly rejected US resolution to prolong an Iranian arms embargo upon the 2015 nuclear deal officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). The deal was signed between Iran and six world powers (US, Russia, Britain, France, China, and Germany called the Group 5+1).

In 2018, Trump announced US unilateral withdrawal from JCPOA calling it the “worst deal ever negotiated.”

By withdrawing from Iran nuclear deal, JCPOA, and reimposing sanctions illegally, Trump administration has not only violated the rights of Iranian people but also violated the dignity of a collective agreement inked with several countries, President Rouhani said while addressing a cabinet session on Sunday evening.

He further thanked efforts made by Iran’s Foreign Ministry to neutralize US anti-Iranian efforts.

The Trump administration tried hard to encourage UNSC’s members to approve US resolution for extending the arms embargo on Iran. Otherwise, the sanctions would be set to expire in October.
