TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the COVID-19 caused by the novel coronavirus is not over yet, however, he said, people should adapt to live under coronavirus in the future.

“We must prepare ourselves to live under the coronavirus circumstances in future,” Rouhani said in a phone conversation with Education Minister Mohsen Haji Mirzaei on Friday, President Rouhani website reported.

The president hailed the country’s education staff and teachers for their attempts despite the problems caused by the spread of the coronavirus, not closing education, and fulfilling the slogan of “Closure of schools is not the closure of education.”

“It is important to use cyberspace and distance learning so that students continue learning,” said Rouhani.

Rouhani instructed the education minister to cooperate with the Health Ministry to follow health protocols in schools for conducting face-to-face exams at some education levels in such a way that students and their parents do not have any concerns.

Iran’s Health Ministry spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour announced on Friday that 114,931 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease and been discharged from hospital.

Jahanpour said 2,819 new cases were confirmed across the country in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall total infected to 146,668.

He said that the virus had claimed another 50 lives over the same period, raising the overall death toll to 7,677.

The government has reimposed a lockdown on the southwestern province of Khuzestan.

The province remains in the “red zone” – the highest level on Iran’s color-coded risk scale.

“The provinces of Khorasan Razavi, East and West Azerbaijan, Lorestan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Hormuzgan and Mazandaran are in critical condition,” said Jahanpour.
