President Masoud Pezeshkian has emphasized the need to strengthen convergence between Iran and Georgia amid evolving regional and international dynamics in the Caucasus, highlighting expanded economic, transit, and diplomatic cooperation as key pillars for balanced stability in the region.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Speaking on Monday during a meeting with Iran’s new ambassador to Georgia Ali Moujani, President Pezeshkian underscored the Caucasus’ strategic role as a vital bridge between Asia and Europe.

He described the region as a historic, cultural, and economic crossroads with the capacity to connect regional and transregional economies, and stressed that deeper engagement with Caucasus countries, particularly Georgia, should be a diplomatic priority.

President Pezeshkian pointed to the deep historical and cultural relations between the Iranian and Georgian peoples, describing the ties as a shared collective memory and a valuable asset for building sustainable cooperation.

He reaffirmed that justice, human dignity, respect for national sovereignty, and territorial integrity form the core principles of Iran’s foreign policy and its approach to the Caucasus.

President Pezeshkian further noted the region’s strong potential for developing a complementary regional economy based on synergy across transit routes, production, agriculture, energy, and technology, with the aim of delivering balanced benefits to all parties.

Strengthening bilateral and multilateral dialogue would pave the way for lasting peace, stability, and shared growth, he added.

Highlighting regional transport corridors, President Pezeshkian stressed the importance of joint cooperation and non-exclusive use of these routes to enhance human security, social welfare, and regional tranquility.

Moujani, for his turn, outlined his priorities and pledged to leverage all capacities to deepen friendly relations and enhance Iran’s standing in the Caucasus.
