OIC calls for accountability, justice for Israeli crimes in Gaza

TEHRAN (Iran News) In a statement released on Sunday, the OIC described the Israeli massacre of Palestinians in the besieged coastal strip as a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.

It called on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to put an end to Israeli crimes and violations by establishing a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire, ensuring adequate and unhindered access for humanitarian aid, and the withdrawal of occupation forces from Gaza.

The 47-member body, known to be the collective voice of the Muslim world with its headquarters in Jeddah, also stressed the need for activating international criminal justice mechanisms to prosecute and hold accountable Israeli officials involved in these heinous crimes.

Last Friday evening, Israeli forces shelled a school-turned-shelter in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza City, leaving seven Palestinians dead and several others injured.

The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas described the massacre as a “clear and new violation” of the truce agreement. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, some 400 Palestinians have been killed and over one thousand wounded in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire went into effect in October.
