Iran’s Noshahr hosts International IONS 2025 Meeting
TEHRAN (Iran News) The international meeting of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium’s (IONS) Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Working Group for 2025 kicked off in Noshahr with officials from 11 countries in attendance.
The event was held in Imam Khomeini Naval University of Noshahr, with representatives from member states, as well as military and naval officials.
The Commander of Imam Khomeini Naval University of Noshahr Rear Admiral Abutaleb Motalebi emphasized the effective role of naval forces in maintaining regional peace, security, and stability.
Referring to the characteristics of Nowshahr, he said Noshahr is one of the most beautiful northern ports of the country.
He expressed hope that the guests’ presence in this city would provide an excellent opportunity to become acquainted with Iran’s cultural and natural attractions and paves the way for expanding maritime cooperation and humanitarian initiatives in the Indian Ocean region and its littoral states.
The IONS HADR Working Group meeting is part of the international cooperation structure among naval forces in the Indian Ocean region, convened with the aim of fostering constructive interaction in humanitarian affairs, as well as rescue and relief operations.
The meeting, held under the slogan “Together for Maritime Safety and Security.”
Representatives from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, the UAE, Indonesia, and China attended the event in-person and those from Qatar, Myanmar, France, Bangladesh, and Saudi Arabia are also participating in the meeting online.
