Iran-Pakistan Joint Economic Commission holds meeting in Tehran

TEHRAN (Iran NewsRepresentatives from Iran and Pakistan have opened the 22nd meeting of the Joint Economic Commission in the capital, Tehran, and have agreed to draw up a roadmap aimed at boosting bilateral trade to $10 billion within the next three months.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on Monday, Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh said the roadmap will cover a wide range of areas, including banking, transit, energy, agriculture, and cultural exchanges.

She expressed satisfaction with the presence of a high-ranking Pakistani delegation, saying the commission meeting marks an important step toward expanding bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Highlighting the long-standing brotherly relations between the two Muslim neighbors, Sadegh thanked Pakistan for its supportive stance toward the Islamic Republic on bilateral, regional, and international levels, particularly after the Israeli aggression against Iran in June.

She described Pakistan’s position as a clear sign of the depth of friendly ties between the two nations and Islamabad’s constructive role in consolidating relations.

Sadegh added that Iran is determined to pursue comprehensive relations with Pakistan, emphasizing that the resumption of the commission’s work after a three-year pause could serve as a new beginning for achieving shared goals.

Pakistan ready to expand cooperation with Iran: Minister

For his part, Pakistan’s Minister of Commerce and Trade Jam Kamal Khan reaffirmed Islamabad’s readiness to expand economic, technical, and regional cooperation with Tehran.

Stressing the deep historical, cultural, and religious bonds between the two neighbors, he said Pakistan stands firmly by the Iranian nation and seeks to build a common future based on prosperity, security, and development.

Khan also conveyed greetings from the people of Pakistan to the Iranian government and nation, praising Iran’s warm hospitality and the constructive approach of the Iranian delegation.

He underlined that the destinies of Iran and Pakistan are intertwined, with shared values and geography providing a solid foundation for closer cooperation.
