Iran and Russia’s Defense Ministers hold strategic meeting in Moscow

TEHRAN (Iran NewsThe Ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, says Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh met with his Russian counterpart, Andrei Belousov, during an official visit to Russia.

Speaking with the IRNA correspondent on Monday, Jalali said that the two defense ministers held a strategic meeting in Moscow.

He emphasized that their discussions concentrated on enhancing bilateral cooperation in defense and military areas.

Additionally, he said that Iran’s Defense Minister had previously participated in a high-level meeting on Sunday between Ali Larijani, a senior adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.

Iran and Russia enjoy a close diplomatic and political relationship, and both remain under Western sanctions and pressure.

In January, the two countries signed a Comprehensive Strategic Agreement, aimed at expanding bilateral relations, especially in the fields of economy, science, technology, culture, and tourism.
