Qalibaf: Enemies seek to sow discord among Iranians via disinformation
TEHRAN (Iran News) Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf says enemies are attempting to create division among the Iranians through resorting to fake news and disinformation.
Qalibaf made the remarks in a parliamentary session on Sunday, noting that U.S. President Donald Trump is making every effort to intimidate the Iranian people.
The question of why the U.S. started the war against Iran amid the negotiations is still unanswered, he said.
Every comment Trump makes is either part of psychological warfare to instill despair and fear in the Iranian people and disrupt the calculations of the country’s officials, or it is a meaningless statement made to merely attract attention, the speaker further said.
He added that Iranians will always stand against enemies in unison and thwart their plots.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Qalibaf praised the “historic turnout” of the Iranian people in the funeral of 60 victims of the latest war of aggression against Iran, which took place in the capital, Tehran, on Saturday.
The victims were among more than 600 people who were killed during the 12-day U.S.-Israeli war of aggression that began on June 13.
Israel launched the aggression three days ahead of planned talks between Iran and the United States on the Iranian peaceful nuclear program.
Washington joined the aggression on June 22 when it bombed three nuclear sites of Iran, namely Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz.
The Iranian Armed Forces responded to the U.S.-Israeli aggression powerfully, striking key areas across the Israeli occupied territories and inflicting heavy damage there. The aggression came to an end following a ceasefire announced on June 24.
