Sylabbardy Nurberdyev, ECO Deputy Secretary-General, outlined Turkmenistan’s proposal for the initiative, emphasizing its potential to deepen economic relations among member states. “The establishment of a joint trade zone will serve as a cornerstone for stronger economic bonds within the ECO region,” he stated.

Officials from both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing regional trade through a structured and legally sound framework. Discussions also highlighted the importance of attracting investment, streamlining cross-border commerce, and improving logistics in the designated trade zone. The meeting concluded with an agreement to finalize the ECO-proposed draft, laying the groundwork for a bilateral accord and identifying a potential JTZ along the Iran-Turkmenistan border.
