TEHRAN - The Oil Minister has emphasized the expansion of energy cooperation between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, announcing the formation of a joint task force to oversee strategic and technical collaborations.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Mohsen Paknejad, during a meeting on Tuesday, January 23, 2025, with Shahin Mustafayev and his accompanying delegation, stated that such meetings play a significant role in strengthening bilateral relations in various sectors. He highlighted that neighboring countries hold a special priority in Iran’s foreign policy, with Azerbaijan having a unique position among them.

Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, noted during the meeting that this was his second encounter with the Iranian Oil Minister in the past three months. He stressed the importance of reciprocal visits and meetings in gaining a deeper understanding of each other’s capacities and infrastructure. “Baku”

He further emphasized that the relations between Iran and Azerbaijan are built on shared religious, cultural, and fraternal ties. Mustafayev added that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev places great importance on these relations, believing they are based on the mutual interests of both nations.

In a related meeting, Masoud Pezeshkian, during his talks with Shahin Mustafayev, who led a delegation to Tehran to participate in the 16th Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission, described the relations between the two countries as brotherly, friendly, and rooted in religious and familial bonds. Pezeshkian affirmed that the cordial ties between the people and governments of Iran and Azerbaijan transcend geographical boundaries and will continue to strengthen over time.
