TEHRAN (Iran News) Mojtaba Demirchiloo, the Iranian foreign minister’s assistant and director general of the Foreign Ministry’s Eurasia department, held a meeting with Russian Ambassador Alexey Dedov in Tehran on Monday.
The Iranian diplomat said respect for national sovereignty, territorial integrity and mutual interests of countries are the guarantor of sustainable peace and can serve as the foundation for regional cooperation in the Caucasus.
Demirchiloo also highlighted Iran’s stance on supporting the restoration of peace and stability in the region and cooperation among the regional countries, adding that Tehran is against any change in the internationally recognized borders or geopolitical changes in the region.
The Iranian diplomat also stressed the need to take into consideration the legitimate concerns and interests of all countries in the region, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
The two officials further urged that the regional countries’ capacities should be used to resolve the issues, help consolidate peace and stability in the region, and implement economic plans.
Demirchiloo and Dedov also discussed the upcoming meeting of the consultative 3+3 mechanism as well as a meeting by the Iranian, Russian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers.
