Retaliatory Action Essential to Curb Israel: Iran’s Caretaker FM
It is necessary to take retaliatory action, in accordance with international law, against the Zionist regime to prevent the escalation of its aggressive measures, Caretaker Foreign Minister of Iran Ali Baqeri said.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Baqeri on Monday held a telephone conversation with Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the European Union.

They talked about the importance of maintaining stability and security in the region and condemnation of the Zionist regime’s acts in violation of international law as well as the legitimate right of Iran to defend its security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Iranian caretaker minister said a review of the history of the Zionist attacks on Gaza will show that the targets of the Israelis are mainly civilian places, hospitals, residential houses, children, women and defenseless people, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

He added that the recent act of Israel is a violation of Iran’s national security and sovereignty as well as regional peace and stability, and for this reason, the assassination of the Hamas chief in Tehran is considered as a threat to international peace and security.

It is necessary to stand up against this evil entity that is the root cause of instability in the region and to take countermeasures in accordance with international law so that the other side cannot step up its acts of aggression in the region, Baqeri added.

For his part, Szijjarto said Hungary is willing and ready to continue dialogue with Iran.

He noted that Hungary is extremely worried about what is happening to Lebanon and the escalation of tension in the region.

The Hungarian minister stressed that the international community should do whatever it can to prevent any escalation of tension and crisis because the tensions potentially pose a threat to Europe too.

The Israeli regime assassinated the head of the political bureau of Hamas in Tehran in the early hours of July 31.

Haniyeh, who was in Tehran to attend the new Iranian president’s swearing-in ceremony, was martyred in a special residence after being hit by an aerial projectile.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has warned the Israeli regime of a “harsh response” for Haniyeh’s assassination, calling it the Islamic Republic’s duty to avenge the Palestinian resistance leader’s blood.
