Iranian Official Calls for Launching PTA, FTA with Brazil to Enhance Trade
The chairman of the Iran-Brazil Joint Chamber of Commerce said that the lack of free and preferential trade agreements between Iran and Brazil is an obstacle to the development of economic relations between the two countries.

TEHRAN (Iran News)Speaking at the Iran-Brazil Business Forum in Tehran, Fakhreddin Amerian emphasized launching a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) and a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries in line with spurring trade and economic activities.

The two countries have high potential and capacities to boost their trade and economic ties, he added.

Currently, Iran exports about $100 million of products to Brazil and imports $7.6 billion of products from this South American country, he maintained.

An obstacle to the development of economic relations between the two countries is the problem of money transfer and banking relations, which the governments of Iran and Brazil must eliminate as soon as possible, the official stressed.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Amerian pointed to Iran’s tourism capacities and said as few Brazilian tourists visit Iran, responsible officials should take necessary measures to introduce the country’s tourism attractions to Brazilian travelers.
