IRGC Urges Maximum Election Turnout
What the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps is pursuing in the forthcoming presidential election in Iran is the maximal turnout of voters, but it does not favor any specific candidate and feels bound to support and work with the winner, the IRGC spokesperson said.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –In comments on Wednesday, Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif highlighted the significance of the upcoming presidential election in Iran considering the domestic, regional and international developments.

Echoing remarks made by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei about the elections, the spokesman said the IRGC calls for the maximal presence of people in the polls, saying a high turnout will safeguard the Islamic Revolution and its achievements.

He underscored that all IRGC commanders and personnel have been prohibited from supporting any specific candidate or political faction, stressing that the IRGC is legally and religiously forbidden from taking part in any activity in favor of or against any presidential candidate.

However, General Sharif stated, the IRGC will support, work and cooperate with whoever emerges victorious in the presidential election and wins people’s trust.

The IRGC has always followed the same strategy during all previous administrations with various political tendencies, the spokesman stressed, adding that the IRGC employs its potential and capacities to assist the governments in the fulfillment of the Islamic Revolution’s goals.

Iran is going to hold a nationwide presidential election on Friday, June 28. The polls will take place a year ahead of schedule, as Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi passed away in a helicopter crash on May 19.

In remarks on Tuesday, Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that the key to national pride in the elections lies in maximum public participation and the election of the most qualified candidate.

“The reason for the insistence and emphasis on maximum participation in the elections is that the most important impact of a high turnout is that it brings honor to the Islamic Republic,” the Leader said.
