Book “Isfahan, City of Polish Children” Unveiled
TEHRAN (Iran News) The event was held in the presence of Ambassador of Poland to Iran Mr. Maciej Falkowski, First Secretary and Head of Public Diplomacy of the embassy R. Balkiewicz and translator of the book Ms. Haniwh Mehremotlagh as well as translator and author Neda Torabi.
The book has been written by famous Polish writer Irena Stankiewicz and it is one of her works on the World War II and now it has been translated in Persian by Ms. Mehremotlagh and published by Negarestan-e Andishe Publication.
The book covers the time span between 1942 and 1945 during the World War II when some 10,000 Polish refugees took shelter in Iran and some of them mainly around 2600 children took shelter in Isfahan and after three years they left Iran but some of the refugees even got married in the city.
The Polish refugees took shelters in different countries after the Soviet Union attack and around 10,000 arrived in Iran where numerous schools were set up to teach the children the Polish language, maths and other standard subjects.
