Country Facing Shortage for Poultry Vaccines
–Secretary of Iranian Veterinary Pharmaceuticals and Biologics Importers Association (IVPBIA) says the country is facing the shortage of poultry vaccines, noting that the price of veterinary pharmaceutical items will increase by 30%.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Secretary of Iranian Veterinary Pharmaceuticals and Biologics Importers Association (IVPBIA) says the country is facing the shortage of poultry vaccines, noting that the price of veterinary pharmaceutical items will increase by 30%.

Speaking to ILNA, Hamid Reza Tavakoli said that warehouses have been depleted of the veterinary medicines and importers who had imported their goods offer them very limitedly in order to find the fate of their goods to see they will be categorized in Group 21 or 22 by the ministry. He added that today one can see hoarding or smuggling of veterinary medicines it will increase the final cost of livestock products.

He said that the price of poultry vaccines will increase by up to 30%, adding that the ministry has not earmarked any forex for the veterinary products and efforts of the association for getting forex have been so far useless.

He noted that the country has not reached self-sufficiency in producing poultry vaccines and almost 90% of the livestock vaccines are produced in the country but 70% of poultry vaccines are imported and only 30% of the domestic needs are produced in the country and in the field of vitamins the country needs imports.

Tavakoli further said that importers are waiting to learn the fate o categorizing the veterinary medicine by the related ministries because the current condition deprives importers of getting dollar for 28,500 tomans and this will increase the final cost of livestock products.

He noted that the country needs annually $1b for imports of veterinary pharmaceuticals that $550m is for importing raw material and $450m for additive medicines.

He urged officials to move faster in making decision over the fate of categorizing the veterinary pharmaceuticals because the delay will harm this industry.
