TEHRAN (Iran News) – Head of Iran Trade Promotion Organization Mr. Alireza Payman-Pak during his recent visit to Uzbekistan made the ground ready for signing some trade agreements which will be signed during Iranian President’s visit to Uzbekistan in September.
Payman-Pak during his visit discussed several important trade issues in meeting with Uzbek officials.
In the first day of the visit, Payman-Pak met Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Mr. Abidov Badriddin and during the meeting both sides explored ways for broadening the trade, joint investments and removing hurdles in way of Iranian and Uzbek traders on course to trade development between the two states.
One of the achievements of the meeting was to revive an agreement on the customs affairs which was decided the agreement to be implemented after a long hiatus.
Reviewing the mechanism of barter trade and different models of it were among the issues which were discussed in the meeting.
According to reports, one of the most important achievements of the visit to Uzbekistan and meeting with Abidov was the general agreement for signing a deal on preferential tariff. It was decided an Iranian delegation of experts to be dispatched to Tashkent to prepare the preferential tariff agreement for signing during President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to Tashkent.
Cooperation in the guarantee fund or the similar funds in Uzbekistan and launch of a joint workgroup with presence of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization and Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran and Uzbekistan’s Transport and Investments and Foreign Trade ministries were other issues which were agreed between the two sides.
In the meeting, it was decided a big trade delegation from Iran to be sent to Uzbekistan for B2B meetings with their counterparts concurrent with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization leaders meeting in Uzbekistan.
Meanwhile Payman-Pak in meeting with deputy transport minister of Uzbekistan Mr. Choriyev Jasurbek discussed issues for bilateral cooperation like cooperation in Chabahar Port, transit of goods and it was decided in the meeting two transit corridors of Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Chabahar and Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Chabahar to be discussed in the SCO meeting.
Launch of joint transportation company was of the other issues which were raised in meeting with Choriyev and both sides called for launching a joint committee on transportation and transit which was agreed in the 14th joint commission of Ira and Uzbekistan, these problems would be resolved.
Meanwhile concurrent with Payman-Pak’s visit to Uzbekistan, the first Iranian transit truck entered Uzbekistan via Turkmenistan.
