TEHRAN (Iran News) –  Secretary General of Iran Water Industry Federation believes 300 cities and towns of the country are facing with the water tension and with the current condition, Tehran may face water rationing unless the city starts using the underground waters and to this end it should accept the subsidence.

Speaking to ILNA, Alireza Shariat said that the future war will be over water and Iran has to get water in exchange with oil and unfortunately it is taking place very sooner than what has been expected.

He went on to say that soon Turkish President is to visit Tehran and during the visit Iran should talk with Turkey and even with neighboring countries like Iraq for the environment water rights in order to avoid future disputes and conflicts.

He said that new dams in Turkey collects water equal to all of Iran’s dams and this point should be discussed during Turkish President’s visit to Tehran.

Shariat also blamed the climate change as one of the reasons behind recent problems in the world and in Iran, and recent dust storm problem is because of the climate change and mismanagement. He also blamed sanctions as one of the reasons behind recent dust storm problem.

He admitted that this is the beginning and as time passes by, the condition is getting worse because when the precipitation declines, the region is prone to have more dust and sand storms and Turkey has realized it sooner and the country has taken actions regarding their national interests but Iran and Iraq have not pursued any diplomacy and we have not paid to this issue as much as we have paid to the nuclear talks.

Shariat called for planting indigenous plants in the some areas to prevent the spread of the storm to some extent.

He said that Iraq’s ignorance to the environmental issues like plantation and water issues has created the difficult condition in the region and especially for Iran. He reiterated the country needs to take serious action in this regard or else the dusts will not end and it will hurt the country and the people.

Shariat went on to say that the future of the country depends on water and no development is possible without water resources and currently 300 cities and towns are facing water tension and if this condition goes on, Tehran will face water rationing unless the underground water is used despite subsidence.
