TEHRAN (Iran News) – Head of Iran Chamber of Cooperatives (ICC) believes forming joint-stock cooperative is the best solution for privatization of two famous Tehrani soccer clubs of Persepolis and Esteghlal and it is the best way of handing over the shares of the two clubs to its fans.
Bahman Abdollahi said that establishing the joint-stock cooperative can be a new chapter in the process of expanding the role of cooperatives in the national economy.
He added that establishing the joint-stock cooperative is a suitable platform for privatization of these two famous clubs. He also supported the remarks of Tehran Friday Prayers Leader who called for handing over the shares of the two clubs to its fans and there should be some restriction for purchase of the number of the shares in order that the shares are distributed among the fans.
Abdollahi reiterated that the nature of the cooperatives is in a way that it does not have most of the problems of the non-cooperatives and there is possibility for membership of all fans, veterans and enthusiasts of these teams in the cooperative.
He went on to say that ICC since years ago has begun broad studies regarding privatization of clubs in the form of joint-stock cooperatives and has sent results of its studies to the related organs and ministries.
He reiterated that the cooperative can offer many services to the fans of the clubs in different sectors.
Abdollahi added that privatization of Persepolis and Esteghlal provides the ground for transparency and answering questions and in fact participation and ownership of the fans in the framework of cooperative is one of the vital factors in creating good management and ownership in the soccer clubs.
He stated joint-stock cooperative is some kind of joint-stock company which is formed in accordance with the trade law.
