TEHRAN (Iran News) – Deputy Head of Mission of Tajikistan in Iran Marufjon Abdurahmonov said on Friday that his country welcomes promotion of cultural ties with Tehran.
Speaking in a meeting held on the sidelines of the Second Tehran Virtual Book Fair to review the publications in Iran and Tajikistan, the Tajik official noted that enjoying cultural similarities, Tehran and Dushanbe will extend their cooperation on various fields including publishing books.
The meeting was also attended by Hazhir Tehrani, a member of the Iran-Tajikistan Friendship Association, Majid Asadi, an Iranian writer as well as Ali-Ashraf Mojtahed-Shabestari, the head of the Iran-Tajikistan Friendship Association who attended the meeting via videoconference.
Referring to the cultural similarities between the two countries, he said that Tajikistan celebrates Avicenna Day on August 18, Rudaki Day on September 22 and Rumi Day on September 30 every year.
“Reading the poems of Ferdowsi (Shahnameh), Rumi, Saadi, Hafez and Bedil Dehlavi has become a tradition in Tajikistan with the aim of encouraging the thoughts of these great poets,” the Tajik official noted.
The first Tajik newspaper, Bukhara-ye Sharif, was published on March 11, 1912, and on October 7, 1925, Erfan, the Tajik publication was published, headed by the poet Abolqassem Lahouti.
He added that the National Library of Tajikistan plays an important role in saving historical books and publications.
