TEHRAN (Iran News) – Head of Iran Bicycle, Motorcycle and Spare Parts Sellers Union Mohammad Khadem Mansouri says there are currently no imports of bikes from India and as long as sanctions are not lifted, Indians will not sell bikes to Iran.
Speaking to ILNA, Mansouri said that Iran’s problem with India regarding the imports of motorcycles has not been resolved and as long as the sanctions are on the cards, Indians do not tend to cooperate with Iran. He noted that major shareholders of the Indian motorcycle manufacturers are Americans and therefore they do not cooperate with Iran, and since the reimposition of the U.S. sanctions, Iran has not had any imports of motorcycle from India.
He stated that most of Iran’s motorcycle imports are currently from China, and of course, they are high quality ones and Iran will not let any low quality motorcycles be imported any longer.
He admitted that unfortunately the domestic demands for the motorcycle is insignificant and today people do not tend to change their bikes with new ones and try to repair their bikes because of the high price of the imported bikes.
Mansouri reiterated that when there is no demand in the market, there is no justification for plants to increase the prices. He then called for supporting the domestic producers and manufacturers which help them not to dismiss their workers.
