Iran tends Participating in Azerbaijan Reconstruction
Iran Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mine and Agriculture (ICCIMA) in cooperation with the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Chamber of Commerce held a webinar.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mine and Agriculture (ICCIMA) in cooperation with the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Chamber of Commerce held a webinar on the existing trade opportunities and capacities of Iran and Azerbaijan in the new economic condition and in the region, and participants called for adopting a roadmap for sustainable cooperation between the two countries in the reconstruction of Azerbaijan.

In the webinar, the most important programs ahead of the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Chamber of Commerce were explained, and also the most important capacities for economic cooperation especially the issue of Iran’s participation in the reconstruction of war-hit areas in collaboration with the private sector of Azerbaijan were discussed.

Deputy Head of ICCIMA for International Affairs Mr. Mohammad Reza Karbasi in this meeting emphasized the importance of taking advantage of the created opportunities in the fields of exporting technical and engineering services in the reconstruction of Karabakh as well as providing the required commodities.

He added that ICCIMA has announced its readiness for dispatching a trade delegation to Baku during the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Commission.

Karbasi also said despite restrictions imposed by some neighboring states since the outbreak of the coronavirus, there was no disruption in Iran’s borders with Azerbaijan and the customs office is currently active round-the-clock.

He noted that not only is Azerbaijan an important export destination for Iran among the neighboring states but also are some important major of Iranian goods exported to Russia and Eurasian nations via Azerbaijan.

He then added that the Karabakh peace has created opportunities and called for the export of technical and engineering services, extraterrestrial cultivation agriculture, and also cooperation in the fields of transit and tourism with Azerbaijan.

Meanwhile, the head of the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Chamber of Commerce said that trade between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, despite the spread of coronavirus, is still active and has never stopped.

Hossein Pir Moazen stated: “During the coronavirus pandemic, the only customs that was active 24 hours a day and trade was never stopped in it, was the customs of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan.”

He added: “Most of the customs of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, including Bileh Savar and Astara, have been operating 24 hours a day and the trade between the two countries has been positive during this period.”

The head of the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Chamber of Commerce talked about Iran’s participation in the reconstruction of the areas affected by the Nagorno-Karabakh war, saying: “During the war, about 130 km of our joint border with the Republic of Azerbaijan was liberated and according to the Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan’s report, this part turned into ruin and it is necessary to use Iran’s technical and engineering capacity in the reconstruction of the region.”
