Official Criticizes Politicization of Human Rights Issue

TEHRAN – Head of Iran Judiciary’s Human Rights Headquarters Mr. Ali Bagheri Kani says the Islamic Republic of Iran has no problem with international human rights bodies and it is even an active members of them and attend their meetings but Iran’s problem is that the West and some human rights bodies have politicized the human rights issue in order to use against Iran.
Speaking in a TV program, he pointed to recent western human rights attacks and statements against Iran, adding that those countries and bodies in order to meet their own interests use different tools against Iran, and human rights is a tool for confronting with Iran and Western states have formed an attacking front against the Islamic Republic, and now and then they focus on this topic while they never issue any statement against the violating countries which are their allies.
He added that Iran has no problem with the international human rights bodies and it is even member of these bodies but unfortunately the political approach of these bodies have made the interaction difficult. Bagheri also said that the U.N. Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief has a political approach in his reports and he does not have any expert and legal approach on the human rights issue.
He also pointed to the discrimination and racism in the western countries, adding that racism has been institutionalized and systematic in those countries but the human rights bodies take no serious action against them.
Bagheri added that human rights have turned into a tool in hands of western media but when Iranian nation’s rights are violated, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief remains quiet. He further said that Europeans are serious accomplice of the U.S. in sanctioning Iran, and with this sanction punishes a whole nation which can be considered a crime against a nation.
He also added that western media are after any small issue to blow it up and recently they created ballyhoo over execution of a murderer.
