TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s ambassador to Brazil said the South American country’s parliament has resumed activities of a friendship group with Iran after a two-year hiatus.
In a message in commemoration of the 198th anniversary of Brazil’s independence, Iran’s Ambassador to Brasilia Hossein Qaribi said the Brazil-Iran parliamentary friendship group has resumed activities after nearly two years following the 2018 parliamentary elections.
He said the new friendship group comprises 93 senators and representatives of various political parties and is run by a new presiding board.
In early April, when Qaribi took office as Iran’s new envoy, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro called for plans to enhance economic cooperation with Iran in the post-coronavirus era in order to make up for the losses caused by the pandemic.
