Iran Exports to Iraq Up by 20%

TEHRAN – A member of presiding board of Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce says Iran’s exports to Iraq in the current year have increased by 20 percent comparing to the same period last year.
Speaking to ILNA, Yousef Bapiri said that Iran exports to Iraq in the first four months of the current have grown by 20 percent comparing to the previous year and if there was a problem for transfer of the money, such a growth was impossible.
He added that Iraqi Kurdistan’s borders have always been open and exports to some other parts of Iraq have done through these borders. Bapiri reiterated fortunately despite the coronavirus pandemic, Iran’s exports to Iraq have not stopped and it has even soared by 20 percent.
Regarding claims that problems in banking transactions and transfer of money have made exporters be unable to observe their export obligations, he said of course sanctions have restricted banking relations and official transactions, but it is not acceptable to say that the transfer of forex resulted from the exports to the country is impossible.
Bapiri emphasized that those exporters who say they are unable to repatriate their forex into the country are not eligible to continue their activities and exports have no justification for them. He claimed due to the rise in exports to Iraq, he can dare to say that exporters have found their ways for skirting sanctions and they increase their exports day by day.
He noted that currently Iranian traders get their money from their Iraqi counterparts and the forex are repatriated through different channels.
He reiterated that a committed and famous trader is committed to its obligations for return of the forex otherwise he is not a real trader and he is an overnight one.
