TEHRAN (Iran News) – Over one million tons of commodities worth $341 million is the amount of Iran exports to Afghanistan during the first two months of the current calendar year (March 20-May 20), according to statistics released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
Overseas sales from Iran to Afghanistan witnessed a 3.5 percent rise in terms of weight and an eight percent decline in terms of value compared to figures for the same period last year, IRNA reported.
According to the IRICA, major export items included fruit and vegetable, foodstuff, industrial goods and construction materials.
Tomatoes topped the list of exports with over $26 million in value, followed by iron bars with $23 million.
Other main exported products included pastry and chocolates ($10.2 million), oil derivatives ($8 million), cream ($7.67 million), urea ($7.6 million), cement ($7.61 million), fruit juice ($6.5 million), watermelon ($6 million) and apples ($5.8 million).
In addition, Iran exported day-old chickens valued at $850,000 to Afghanistan during the period.
