IRGC seizes two illegal fishing vessels in southeastern waters
The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps' public relations department announced the seizure of two trawler industrial fishing vessels in the Chabahar and Konarak waters

TEHRAN (Iran News) – In a statement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps’ public relations department announced the seizure of two trawler industrial fishing vessels in the Chabahar and Konarak waters by coast guards from the Imam Ali Naval Base in Chabahar.

According to the IRGC’s statement, on Tuesday, June 17, two commercial fishing vessels anchored in the vicinity waters of Chabahar and Konarak in an obvious violation act, were trawling illegally in the native fishing area; they were detained by Imam Ali (AS) Naval Unit in Chabahar, Iranpress.com reported.

The seizure of these trawling vessels was carried out by the intelligence of the Marine Basij and the marines of Imam Ali (AS) Naval Base, following the protest of the local fishermen of the Konarak and Chabahar regions, with the judicial order of the Konarak prosecutor.

The seized vessels, which carry more than 80 tons of fish, were taken to the Imam Ali Naval Base of the IRGC Naval Base for legal action.

Iran later seized foreign fishing ships including Chinese at the southwestern province of Sistan and Baluchistan waters who were illegally searching for fish in Chabahar waters by trawler industrial method.

Offshore bottom-fishing method is illegal and can cause a lot of destruction to the natural habitats of the region.
