COVID-19 in Iran: Over 2,500 New Cases Detected
Of more than 2,570 new patients with COVID-19 detected in Iran during the past 24 hours, over 1,300 ones have been admitted to the hospital.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Of more than 2,570 new patients with COVID-19 detected in Iran during the past 24 hours, over 1,300 ones have been admitted to the hospital, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman announced.

Speaking at a daily press conference on Monday, Sima Sadat Lari said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran has risen to 207,525 following the 2,573 new cases detected since Sunday.

Of the new cases detected since yesterday, 1,319 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 2,898 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Sadat Lari noted.

She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 9,742, saying the disease has taken the lives of 119 patients over the past 24 hours.

She also noted that zero deaths have been reported in 8 provinces during the past 24 hours, while four other provinces have reported only one death from coronavirus infection each.

At least 166,427 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far and have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman said.

Lari also noted that nearly 1,450,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has exceeded 9,060,000, and the death toll has surpassed 470,000.
