U.S. Exports to Iran Falls by 17% in January
According to the latest report released by the United States Census Bureau, the U.S. and Iran trade volume has witnessed 13 percent fall in January 2020 comparing to the same period in 2019 and the figure has stood at $3.9m.

TEHRAN – According to the latest report released by the United States Census Bureau, the U.S. and Iran trade volume has witnessed 13 percent fall in January 2020 comparing to the same period in 2019 and the figure has stood at $3.9m.

According to the report, the U.S. exports to Iran in January 2020 were about $3.7m and it shows 17 percent fall comparing to the same period in 2019 when the U.S. exports stood at $4.5m

The U.S. exports to Iran faced 17 percent drop while the country claims that it has not created any restriction over exports of medicines and humanitarian goods to Iran.

After the outbreak of Coronavirus, NOGs and humanitarian bodies launched scathing criticism at the U.S. over its unfair sanctions on Iran.

The U.S. imports from Iran in January 2020 fell to $0.2m while the country had no imports from Iran in January 2019.

Iran ranked 166 among the exports destinations of the U.S. goods in January 2020 and ranked 202 among exporting countries to the U.S.

Iran-U.S. trade was around $258m in 2016 before U.S. President Donald Trump took office, and the figure slumped to $199m in Trump’s first year of presidency and in 2018, the figure faced noticeable rise and it hit $459.7. And in 2019, the bilateral trade tumbled by 85 percent comparing to 2018 and reached $74.5m.
