TEHRAN – Chairman of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce says all borders with Iraq for exports are open and there is no problem in the trend of exports to Iraq.
Speaking to the media yesterday, Yahya Al-e Eshaq touched upon the current condition of Iran’s exports to Iraq, saying that everyday and without any problem trucks, carrying exported goods, enter Iraq via Tamerchin, Bashmaq, Khosravi, Parviz Khan, Shalamche and Chazabeh border crossings.
He added that according to the statistics, since February 20, 749 trucks from Shalamche border, 321 trucks from Chazabeh, 659 trucks from Mehran, 355 trucks from Soomar and 129 trucks from Khosravi border have entered Iraq.
Al-e Eshaq added that fruits and vegetables, chemicals, steel pipes, metal products, ironwares, home appliance, tile and ceramic, construction materials, food and during stuff, dried-fruit and general goods are the major exports to Iraq.
On the recent developments in the Mehran border, he said despite those ups and downs, 800 trucks have entered Iraq via this border and there is no truck in order to be in line.
He said recent closure in Mehran border was because of some reshuffle in Iraqi border post and new forces have been deployed there.
Al-e Eshaq went on to say that Iran’s exports to Iraq stood at $13b last year while the figure has been around $9b in ten months this year and it is expected the figure reach $13b or even exceed it.
He noted that due to the outbreak of coronavirus, it is natural that countries to take serious measures to fight the virus by adopting health issues and restrictions about visitors to the countries.
Reacting to false news reports in the virtual world on the closure of Iran-Iraq borders, he said enemies of the Islamic Republic are after a psycho-war and it is natural that the U.S. does its best to isolate and lock Iran’s economy and it will definitely fail.
Earlier Head of public relations in Iran’s Customs Administration Ahmad Khani said that Iran’s borders with Iraq have been reopened, while medical teams monitor suspected coronavirus patients.
“Mehran border is yet to be reopened, while Chazabeh border has already been opener an hour ago. Shalamche, Parvizkhan and Soomar borders are open as well,” he said.
Moreover, Khank said Iran has no limit in cargo and passenger transportation with Afghanistan.
