Tehran, Ankara Urged to Cooperate on Join Venture

TEHRAN – Iran and Turkey believe both countries should boost their cooperation in joint ventures.
Head of Iran Desk of Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEİK) Mr. Osman Aksoy yesterday in Tehran met Deputy Head of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce on international affairs Mr. Mohammad Reza Karbasi and during the meeting both sides explored ways to expand cooperation.
In the meeting, Karbasi pointed to the old trade relation between Iran and Turkey, adding that both states are complementary to each other and there are abundant capacities for bilateral cooperation.
He said Iran and Turkey can expand their cooperation in fields like transfer of technology, providing the needs of Turkish companies, joint investment and exports to the third party countries and participating in exports of engineering and technical services.
Karbasi reiterated that despite hardship because of economic sanctions, statesmen of both countries have positive approach towards boosting relations and for this reason, both states have set target to touch $30b trade volume.
New economic cooperation opportunities was the other issue which was touched upon by Karbasi, saying that he believes getting rid of single good of oil is a new chapter for expanding and diversifying exports and this heavy task is on the shoulders of chambers of commerce of both countries which should remove hurdles on way of developing economic and trade cooperation.
Karbasi added that Iran-Turkey Joint Chamber of Commerce and DEIK can work together to identify and resolve the problems.
He then called for cooperation on joint ventures, adding that joint investment will bolster the relations between both states for long term. He pointed to noticeable investment of Turkish companies in Iran, noting that currently Iran’s chamber of commerce is after removing hurdles in way of Turkish companies.
Aksoy, for his part, expressed his satisfaction over his two decades of activities related to Iran, announcing his readiness for pushing ahead the goals of trade development between both states.
He also said that till a couple of years ago, there was little information over Iran’s market for Turkish businessmen.
Aksoy also pointed to some hurdles for cooperation like registering order for imports of raw material and equipment and customs issues which can be resolved.
He went on to say that bartering goods is one of the suitable options for resolving the problems of transfer of money and called for a proper policy.
