Sanctions Have No Impact on Tourism

TEHRAN – Switzerland Ambassador to Tehran Markus Leitner believes sanctions and political issues have no impact on tourism industry and safety and security is more important for tourists.
Speaking to the Miras News Agency on the sidelines of the 13th International Tourism Exhibition in Tehran, Mr. Leitner hailed Iranians’ hospitality, adding that living in Iran is a wonderful experience.
He said he believes tourism industry is a good means for establishing bilateral relations between two countries because people travel and gain experiences from their visiting destinations and they get direct experience regardless of how the mass media have portrayed those destinations.
On the negative propagation against Iran’s tourism industry, he said he does not like such an idea because tourism is a good path to have a look at oneself. He further said people usually do not trust whatever they hear and tourism is the best way for them to go and find the truths and to check out what they have heard about a country and this is the major privilege of tourism.
Leitner reiterated that the Swiss know Iran very well and they have comparative knowledge about Iran and its power in the region. He said Switzerland and Iran have always had good relations and they can celebrate one century of diplomatic relations.
He also said that holding such exhibitions is good for promoting tourism industry especially for those tourists who want to visit Iran.
